Deadlocked “from the inside flap”

Special thanks to our friends at sookieverseblog who have picked up that Amazon UK are now showing a synopsis for Deadlocked on their site. It does bear a strong resemblance to the unofficial synopsis that appeared last year, so our guess is this will be pretty close to the mark.

Join us after this if you want to know more about what is in store for our favorite duo.

According to Amazon UK this is the synopsis here:

Sookie has a murder investigation on her hands. A young girl has died at a vampire party – and it looks as though her lover, Eric, might be responsible. Eric swears he didn’t do it, the police don’t believe him, and even Sookie isn’t so sure. Nor is she inclined to take his word for it, not having caught him enjoying the victim’s blood minutes before she was killed. But something strange is going on. Why had Sookie been asked to come to the fateful party a few minutes early – just to catch Eric in the act? And why had the victim spiked her blood before approaching Eric? Was it simply because she wanted to be irresistible, or was it something more sinister? Sookie will have to find out . . . but it’s the worst moment to investigate, as her Fae family are having troubles of their own and Sookie is, inevitably, drawn in. And there is one last complication. The cluviel dor her grandmother left her. It will grant her one wish, which could fulfil Sookie’s heart’s desire. The only problem is, she still doesn’t know what – or who – her heart truly desires . . .

Wow, there is a lot to take in there. Looks like things are possibly taking a very bad turn for Eric, lets hope it’s only temporary. Who could be behind our viking sheriff being set up? Who asked Sookie to get there early? How will she finally use the cluviel dor? What or who will she decide is her true heart’s desire?

Let us know what you think is going on in the comments below. Does this make you more excited or just incredibly nervous for our lovers happiness?

We will find out what it’s all about in 64 days!

  1. don’t know what to think about this. Is it possible that Charlaine is going to break up Eric and Sookie in a badyway, like Eric doing something douchey and she will leave him, hopefully not, I think its possible that sookie is going to be single in the end of the book series, it still would be better than her being with someone else than Eric, but in generel I am just pissed about all that…

  2. I’m keeping an open mind. I think that synopsis is geared to freak everyone out and ensure they buy the book. Although, I’m definitely curious as to why Eric’s drinking someone else’s blood. But, after “bitegate,” I guess anything is really possible. However, using the words “hearts desire,” those two words are associated with Eric. So, like I said, I’m keeping an open mind.

  3. This synopsis is even worse than the last one, all it does is make me even more not want to bother buying the book. How Sookie could even think that anyone else is her heart’s desire makes no sense to me, and why wouldn’t she believe Eric if he said he didn’t kill her? That’s not something he would need to lie about. I’m now more convinced the Queen has something to do with this. Feeling a bit threatened, is she?

  4. Okay, I literally screamed like a twilight fan when I first read this.

I don’t think Eric did it and when Sookie finds out the truth she will realize that he’s been her heart’s desire all along. That’s what I’m hoping for anyways. I’m really, really hoping.

But I still can’t bring myself to read this book until a trusted person tells me I should. Because if something bad happens to Eric or CH turns him into a jerk, I will cry my little fangirling heart out.

    • I think she specifically did that “bitegate” to remind us that Eric isn’t who she wants us to think he is; that he is not the romantic hero. However, given Eric’s reaction to Sookie’s imprisonment and torture by the fairies and his clear desperation when Amelia broke the bond, I still think she doesn’t know her character as well as she thought.

    • I really hope you’re right, but agreed, I have no intention of reading this book until I read the reviews in here first. The show is already one disappointment after another, I don’t need the final books to go in the same direction.

    • I’m with you girl! I won’t read it unless it has a happy ending. Isn’t that awful?! LOL I love fanfic:)

  5. Okay guys, calm down. After reading this synopsis, I’m not worried in the least.

    Here’s why…
    1. Eric is set up. Of course Sookie will doubt him, because she’s probably full of jealousy. She saw him drinking from the murder victim. She is angry at him for doing so. Then, the girl winds up dead? How in the hell is she supposed to react? I would be pissed off too.
    2. Timing is everything. To quote the Church lady from SNL many years ago, “Isn’t that convenient?” Conveniently, Sookie arrives at the party just in time to see Eric drinking from this other woman. Conveniently, the victim spiked her blood and then had Eric drink from her. I think the murder victim was part of this major setup. And whoever is behind it, glamoured her into doing it.
    3. Of course, Sookie has problems with her Fae family. CH has to keep Sookie busy, so she can’t figure it out right away.
    4. The last line…of course, CH has to throw a bone to other parts of the fandom and to keep us guessing. She wants them buy the book and she wants us to be uncertain, because if we knew how it ended, what’s the point in reading it? I think it’s interesting, how it’s worded…Heart’s Desire is mentioned…not once but twice. And Sookie already told Eric she loved him in DR. She knows who she wants. And she’s not like TB Sookie, who doesn’t have a clue.

I don’t think Deadlocked will have a happy ending, because I think that Eric and Sookie will be broken up. BUT I do think by the end of the series. They will be together. All I can say is…get ready for some angst and put on your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

    • And that’s what worries me, I’m tired of angst. If they get broken up in this book, that’s probably it. There’s only one more left, I don’t know how they can possibly fix all of their problems in such limited time enough to end up together, but I have to hope you’re right.

      • Trust me, Tammy ;) CH thinks she’s so smart…but I can see how it’s going to unfold. Maybe it’s because I write suspenseful/mystery fanfics? Or maybe because I grew up watching soap operas? LOL This is classic soap opera writing 101…where someone is framed, everyone doubts the innocence of the person, including the person who loves them the most…then at the very last minute. The real murderer is revealed…LOL

There’s just a couple of things I’m not sure of, timeline wise. Like if there will be anything to do with Eric’s marriage arrangement in Deadlocked or if CH is waiting for the last book? And will CH eliminate Bill and Sam for Sookie’s hand in this book or the last?

It’s okay to be tired of the angst, but I think the final book will revolve around Eric’s betrothal to the Queen of Oklahoma. Sookie will probably do the killing. Because you know she won’t let this happen, while lying down. And they’ve already been through a lot, so that will be their very last major obstacle, IMO.

        • Ugh, you had to compare it to soap operas…lol! I’m actually not as worried about Bill when it comes to the books, but Sam is another story. If she wants a very boring ending, she’ll put them together. I have to hope she’s more interesting than that. I want Sookie to kick some ass and fight for their relationship, since the show version has become such a doormat.

        • remeber back in book 4 or 5 when Sookie was ‘thought to herself she really wasn’t very good for ex-girlfriends’ then was wondering if Eric had any then laughed at herself for that thought? Well….here’s to hoping Sookie is REALLY bad for wanna-be wives!!!

I also think this synopsis illustrates one of the things that piss me off most about Sookie – how she never has real faith in Eric – she always jumps first to doubting him. Admittedly, this looks bad – but she’s supposedly smart & quick to pick up on things…so the timing is a big red flag…but it’s Eric so….back to jumping & quick to doubt.

Agree the ‘hearts desire’ phrasing is curious and there is no mistaking those words are associated forever with Eric. It also get me thinking – CH is very slick with her wording & it’s rarely an accident, so to use the words ‘hearts desire’ makes me curious if maybe something else is linked to those words….like a relative of Hallows that’s been patiently awaiting a perfect time for revenge? How exactly did the girl ‘spike’ her blood? Could that process need the help of a witch? I know one of the synopsis said something about an ‘enemy’ the likes of which Sookie never could imagine or saw coming. Amelia was hinky last book…could she be in Hallows family tree somewhere? Amelia fell in with Sookie so quickly & Sookie never questioned her jump to leave everything behind & move in with her. Amelia is armed with a lot of info on Sookie + the CD stuff, thanks to Sam. Add in the Tray stuff and her messing with Bob again – the same man who couldn’t get away from her fast enough? Hmmmm…..Makes me wonder….she wanted that bond broken – the very bond Sookie could’ve used to be 100% sure if Eric was telling the truth! All I know, last book I put Amelia firmly in the ‘not trustworthy’ column of Sookie’s ‘friends’ and someone who seems to have a hidden agenda that’s slowly coming to light.

Anyway, that’s my 2cents. I’m not counting Judith out – Bill humiliated her fawning and pining for a ‘human’ & then there’s Janalyn. Although I think the latter is just a bully. But who know’s with CH!

      • Tammy,
I am pretty sure I read that she had signed a contract to write 2 more books after this one. I may be wrong. Sometimes I am not sure CH even likes her fans – Well, I am more a Eric/Sookie fan that a CH fan, but I do give her credit for an excellent first 9 books.

    • I totally agree with you!! I am looking forward to read this book.

  6. I don’t want to speculate on anything ~ except for the ending.
And who I want Sookie to end up with.
    And that’s is Eric Northman.
I don’t beleive that William Thomas Compton III deserves Sookie.
I hope that Jason finds love, and that Sam & Luna marry.

  7. *The cluviel will grant her one wish, which could fulfil her heart’s desire*
Hmmm maybe she’ll wish for a happy normal life with Eric and he’ll be turned into a human… :-D i know that’s the stuff with VD books, CH will not copy it but it’s sure nice to imagine something-something like that… Whatever, i only hope her wish has Eric in it – in a good way…

    • I don’t really see that happening. Sookie knows how much he would hate to be human, I would hope it’s something she would talk about with him first. I’ll be pissed if she just makes him human against his will, but it’s probably something entirely different. I just hope whatever it is, it involves both of them.

      • I agree that Eric would hate being human. Maybe Sookie will wish for a long life with Eric. Him as a vamp and her as a human.

  8. I don’t think it’s fair if at the end of the series Sookie ends up alone or with someone else besides Eric. We have all invested so much of ourselves into the books and characters. There have been so many trials and tribulations along the way for Sookie. Why can’t she discover the woman that she is and also be with her true love ie. Eric. They don’t have to be mutually exclusive. Things may not happen like that in real life, but they can in books!

  9. I really think that Sookie & Eric dies in the last book or that they part and be friends. But really I think with this cluviel if you think bad she is always saying she wishes that she hadn’t met bill and that she could have just lived her normal boring life. I think that is her hearts desire. Or go back further when her parents die to stop that from happenning

    • Not meeting Bill would be cool. But if she doen’t wish for Hadley not meeting QSA she will just send some one else after Sookie.

  10. […] This synopsis is slightly different than the one we’ve previously posted from Amazon UK, which you can read here! […]

  11. I don’t think that Sookie and Eric will remain together. There are too many trying to break them apart. No matter how powerful Eric is there is always some one older out there to covet what he has. Then there is Niall and his agenda. He may want Sookie to go to fae to have strong little fae babies. As Sookie comes into her spark I think it would be funny if she ended up working for the AP.
