It’s a bittersweet kind of day for us, Eric & Sookie Lovers!
Charlaine Harris shared on her Facebook page, she has completed the final book in the Sookie Stackhouse series, “Dead Ever After” – minus a few edits and what not…
This is what she said;
DEAD EVER AFTER is complete. I know I’ll have to do rewrites on a few sections after I read my editor’s notes, but the story is all there. Now to think about Australia and New Zealand!
I’m excited about this! I can’t wait to read the book, but I also am sad…it’s the end of Sookie’s story and journey. How will the series end?
Charlaine has revealed she will probably write an addendum to finish it off.
As you can see…this screencap is from one of the comments left on her wall, in which she replied she WILL be writing an addendum for the series, because there’s no way to finish it off in one book. Charlaine said this as recent as Tuesday, July 17th.
Who’s going to be seeing her in New Zealand and Australia? I know we have some visitors from there…

I can’t rate this I don’t to see this series come to an end.
But I guess it has to, but it’s good news that she will be writing an addemmum
to the last Book, who knows where this could take us?
Maybe a series based upon Eric Northman’s life???
Can’t wait to read Book 13.
The addendum will only tell us what happens to all the characters. Not sure if this will include Eric or Sookie or not, but I doubt there will be a series based on Eric Northman’s life. She is going to be writing a different series.

This is indeed bittersweet, I hope for a good ending for Eric and Sookie, I’ll be miserable if not!
Truthfully, I got a bit nervous after reading that the final book is written….I know, I’m a fool, but its’ been soooo many years that I’ve devoted to the SVM novels and especially to Sookie and Eric that I really don’t want to see it end. I hope beyond hope, that S & E have a HEA, although I really don’t think CH has written it that way. I guess I’ll just have to wait until May to read the final book. Believe me when I say, I have never been so involved in fictional characters before and its’ something as a shock that I can care this much about a book series.

I have read her other series of books. She always ends them so abrutly. I am always left wondering what else happened. I hope the last book is better than the two previous ones. I have not been a happy reader. As much as I would love to see ERic and Sookie together I will be really surprised if they are. Sookie and Eric would have to have a huge conversation. I don’t think her books are long enough for that to occur. Oh well just my opinion.
Sookie and Eric have needed to have a major conversation for a while now and they have just tiptoed around it a little. They did have a small in DL but there is always so much going on that they never are able to finish. It will happen though. One thing I always tell myself is to remember something Sookie said in DL and that is that “Eric is her team , he loves me”.
I really hope she does that, I would just love it!
wow, that was fast. I realy wouldnt mind waiting a few more months. You have to admit that these last few books seem a bit rushed with a lot of repetition.
I know Charlaine always said that she knew right from the beginning the ending, but I am still scarred of her maybe changing her opinion with whom sookie should end up with, I hope balls fanfiction didn’t confuse her too much. (well yes beehl is not going to be the endgame in the books but ball barely showed an eric sookie relationship on the show).
This makes me so sad. It’s just so final. Like the loss of an old friend
I would have felt more sad about this if the last couple of books were decent enough, but this series just hasn’t been holding my interest lately.
I am reading the last chapter of Dead Reckoning now. I had to take a break from it because I’m sick with heartache for Sookie & Eric. Why can’t he simply turn her? Would their marriage be recognized by the king if she were a vampire? Will Eric give up everything, all the power he has as sherif & all the power he would gain by marring the queen of Oklahoma for Sookie? Is his love for her that great &/or strong enough to survive such a sacrifice. Would he even consider it a sacrifice at all? All of these questions & more are tumbling around inside my head causing it to ache! I know but one thing for certain, I long for Eric & Sookie to find their HAPPILY EVER AFTER wrapped in each others arms! In an effort to lift my spirrits I think I’ll re-read the first nine books before finishing the series. There’s nothing like loves beginning to drowned out the sorrow of its tragic END! 😭😭😭

I’m not sure what I’ll do if Sookie & Eric don’t end up together!?!? I guess I’ll NEVER read another book written by Charlaine Harris! NEVER EVER!!!
