The One Where Sookie Seeks The Truth, While Eric Visits Vamp Camp

This week on True Blood, we learned how to “F*ck The Pain Away”. This is what happened during the 5th episode of season 6…

WARNING: If you don’t want to know – don’t read below!

Just when you thought you knew everything in Bon Temps, things aren’t always how they seem to be at first, and there are still many things which leave you going, WTF? It’s time to share my thoughts on this episode…

Let’s get the boring stuff out of the way with first.

Do I look constipated to you?

That Don’t Impress Me Much

Alcide. YAWN. Who fucking cares? I don’t care about Alcide’s father issues, even though I have to side with his father on the fact he called Alcide out on using his search for Sam and Emma as a way to impress his bitch, Rikki. Alcide seems to really think he’s more important now since he’s become pack master wannabe.

Terry meets with Justin, one of his former Marines. He wants him to kill him, because he can’t live with the pain and guilt his suffers. Arlene would much rather Terry ignore it and cover it up, but he can’t do it. Justin agrees to kill him for free. What a great friend…

Andy is horrified to find his dead fairy daughters at Bill’s. Good news for him, is one is still alive. Whew! He feeds her vampire blood to heal her. Holly comforts Andy, but he wants revenge. His one surviving daughter told him Jessica killed them and Bill was taking their blood for some kind of experiment. Holly tells Andy if he goes after Bill, his one daughter would end up all alone. Poor Andy! My heart really breaks for him. I bet he wishes he had named his daughters now.

Sam apologizes to Nicole. He was drunk. Nicole doesn’t blame him, and now understands why Sam keeps the fact he’s a shifter a secret. Nicole tries to call her parents. Sam thinks it’s better if they think she’s dead. However, things don’t look too good for them since Alcide’s father spotted them from across the hotel parking lot.

This is brought to you by the letters W.T.F.

Sarah tries to convince the Governor that sending Willa to Vamp Camp is the best thing. Here’s where it’s shocking…they are SLEEPING together and she wants to have his baby? I’m not sure if I want to puke or just…PUKE. Something tells me that little Miss-Upstanding-Vampire-Hating Sarah is going to be bigger trouble than meets the eye. The Governor rejects her (thank God), so she goes to see Jason, wearing a black negligee, and she eventually convinces Jason to have sex with her.

Things go from bad to worse for Jason – when Jessica knocks on his door, crying about how she killed the fairy girls and feels so guilty about it. She wonders if Bill is the devil and whether or not Jason really loved her at all. Sarah hears and picks a fight with Jessica and then in another WTF moment, rescinds Jessica’s invitation to Jason’s house. How in the hell can she do that? It’s not HER house. WTF? Once outside, Jessica is taken away by the LAVTF because Sarah called them.

All of this (of course), convinces Jason that vampires really aren’t so bad after all. He ends up going to a recruitment office for the LAVTF.

A bromance I can get behind because they both can't compete with Eric...

A bromance I can get behind because they both can’t compete with Eric…

Bad, Bad Bromance

Benlow tells Sookie he was loves her and she’s his destiny. Sookie doesn’t really believe him. Why did he kill her parents? He reveals he killed Sookie’s parents in order to save her life. They were going to kill her. She doesn’t believe him. Vampires only want to fuck her and use her blood.

She zaps him, but Bill senses it and shows up ordering Warlow to come with him. I guess since Bill drank Lillith’s blood, he can command Warlow “as his maker” now. Bill needs Warlow to help save the vampire race. Bill takes his blood while Warlow is under orders not to kill him.

In flashbacks, Warlow remembers how Lillith turned him and then going back to his fairy tribe some years later. In a fit of bloodlust, Warlow killed all of his tribe – except for Niall, who was told by his mother to go hide in a tent. In revenge, Warlow killed Lillith for making him a vampire, which is something he hates. Hmmm…where have I heard this before? I guess Bill and Warlow have more in common than we thought? Warlow wishes the vampire race extinction and refuses to help, and Lillith should’ve remained dead.

I’ve read speculation that Niall and Warlow are actually fairy brothers, but I don’t think that’s possible. In the last flashback, Niall’s mother was someone else, who told him to stay in the tent. While Warlow’s mother was standing right next to Warlow’s father.

Meanwhile…our favorite couple are going through some very tough times as well…

Worst Father of the Year

After Sookie finds out from Warlow her parents were actually going to kill her and that Warlow was only trying to save her, she goes to see Lafayette. She doesn’t know why, but she actually believed Warlow when he told her he loved her. Lafayette thinks she just sees the good in everybody. Sookie tells him she needs to find out the truth. She asks Lafayette to contact her dead parents.

Her father, Corbett shows up and she touches Lafayette’s arm to see a flashback to when Warlow came to visit her parents when she was a child. Warlow was planning on turning Sookie into a vampire, so he can always protect her and Sookie will live forever. Corbett puts a young Sookie into the back of the station wagon and Sookie realizes her parents were planning on killing her. Corbett thinks Sookie is falling for Warlow hook, line and sinker. But Sookie objects. She’s smarter than that and her father doesn’t really know her. Corbett tells her he loves her. He is only trying to save her from becoming a vampire. Realizing, he’s not getting through, he enters Lafayette’s body and ties her up, puts her in the trunk of the car, and takes her to a lake to attempt to drown her.

I don’t get how Sookie can believe Warlow when he tells her he loves her. Have they spent any time together? No. Have they gotten to know each other? No. WTF Sookie? I don’t think it’s because she likes to see the good in people either…I just think she’s on the rebound, and is looking for answers. But I have to admit, Warlow does make it sound convincing and I think Warlow isn’t bad looking either. But that’s JMHO…we’ll have to wait and see. I would still prefer Sookie with Eric.

What happens at Vamp Camp…stays at Vamp Camp

Tara tells Eric the LAVTF took Pam. So, Eric makes it easy for them to capture him to get inside the vamp camp to find her. Once there, they are split up. Eric is put into a white room, where they begin some fight for survival. Hmmm…where have I seen this before? Oh yeah, it reminds me of The Hunger Games, where only the strong and smartest survive. Eric must have proven his skills because they put a number one on his vamp camp blues.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in Vamp Camp, Pam has gone into therapy. Which is hilarious in a way too. Of course, she has tosses a few zingers during her session, but I could tell she was trying to pull a fast one when she talked about Eric releasing her as her maker. I definitely believed her when she told him how much it hurt though. Can someone please tell me why Eric released her in the first place?

Jessica finds Tara in Vamp Camp. Jessica tells her what she did and Tara comforts her. When Jessica refuses some blood which they were given for food…another vampire wonders what gives? Tara stands up for Jessica and the vampire wanders away…I have a feeling this is going to spell trouble for Jessica and Tara at Vamp Camp later on…

Tara spots Willa as she’s being taken down the hall. One of the guards tells Tara that Willa is V.I.P., and is put into solitary confinement. The guard escorting her, comes on to her, and when Willa objects by mentioning the Governor, he tells her since he’s the one who put her there…it won’t do much good now.

Sarah has a surprise for the Governor who has made an appearance at Vamp Camp. They bring Eric in. He and the Governor exchange a few “fuck yous” and then the Governor reveals he has brought Willa to Vamp Camp too. Eric can’t believe the Governor would do that to his own daughter. What did Eric expect? The Governor won’t abandon his principles or change his mind just because Willa is his daughter.

Eric wants him to give him something to kill…and Pam enters the room. Pam has to prove how little Eric means to her. Eric and Pam stare at each other with pain on their faces and horror in my heart. Meanwhile, Sarah, The Governor, the therapist and Steve Newlin look on…

I can’t tell you how much I’m screaming NOOOOOO right now. Eric and Pam have to fight each other to the death? Please God, no! I hope Eric and Pam are able to come up with a plan to get themselves out of this situation, and since they’ve spent so much time together in the past, communication between the two of them shouldn’t be too difficult, right…RIGHT?

All in all…other than more than a few WTF moments…I enjoyed this episode immensely and the cliffhanger left us dangling very dangerously too. I guess I could say, “Blue is the new orange.” as well. Although, I do have to complain about how little we saw Eric during this episode, which is par for the course I suppose…

Looking forward to next week’s episode and keeping my fingers crossed – Eric, Sookie and Pam get out of this alive!

  1. Of course they’ll get out of it alive, we know Sookie is safe, and I have a feeling Eric and Pam will find a way to escape. Steve is really going to get his, the little traitor. I hope he takes his bitch of an ex wife with him.

  2. Yeah good recap but I have doubts about Sookie continuing to be smart because I remember the weeks ahead video after the premier and we do see sookie in the same clothes she was in this episode with blood on the side of her mouth and she is taking off herclothes and I believe that Warlow shows up gives her blood and she then has sex with him unfortunately and because of her fafamily’s history with him it makes no sense for her to do that …..its would be horrible to have sex with someone that killed your parents for any reason …..they have been writing her with smarts the first 4 episodes then start to go backwarss with her character ……I hope I am wrong but it doesn’t look like I am.

    • I doubt it, there would be no reason for her to take his blood since she wasn’t injured. She’s probably taking her clothes off because they’re wet, and wouldn’t Lafayette still be around? If Warlow does in fact kill him to save Sookie like some people believe, she would definitely want nothing to do with him.

  3. LOL that Ron Burgundy gif – I love him so hard! Double LOL.

  4. I am hoping your right Tammy because I like what they have written Sookie as this season and like I said that would be a major set back to her character to do that

  5. Tammy:
    Let’s start at the top.
1.Alcide. I’m stick of his “take charge attitude” the V should be out of his system
by now,and as Martha told Rikki, “Power corrupts”.
And that’s what is happeninng for damn sure.

    2.Andy’s daughter’s deaths? or not.
One of the girls is going to be OK? because of the V Andy had from the Hotshot
raid that happened months ago. But what will happen to her after he gave it to her?

3.Terry’s asking his friend Justin to kill him?
Anyone notice that he looked a bit like Nicholas Coster Waldu from
Game of Thrones?? Terry doesn’t know what he’s talking/asking.?

4…Sam’s been found out, and Jaxson will tell Alcide.
5.Sarah Newlin, hasn’t changed since Season 2 she’s only gotten Worse.
She’s still sex starved, still angry at Steve’s betrayal and her agenda is
the same, She’s behind Govenour Burell’s campign. And the Camps.
It’s what she & Steve originally wanted.
    6. The Seance to find out what happened the night Sookie’s parents
were killed~ Some startling revelations come out.
Warlow appoached Corbett & Michell wanting Sookie.
Corbett baulked and got scared, planing to kill Sookie rather than let
    Warlow get her.
    7. Pam & Eric fighting~Pam can’t hurt Eric and vice versa.

  6. Anyways, even if Ben saves her again from Laf/Corbett, he still killed all her human and fairy kin and sent Niall to God Knows which Supernatural dimension. He is acting totally like a crazy stalker and everyone knows what crazy stalkers do in the end (yeah they just turn on you). Plus he wishes to turn her to a vampire even when he hates being one, so what the hell? This Ben person is really confused.

Eric, Oh Eric! What have they done to you? In which crazy universe does hotness personified gets fully covered up in a non flattering blue night suit and catches blue balls in a white room (pun intended LOLZ) ??!! Why TB?? Where is your imagination? (Anyone seen Gladiator here except Sarah Newlin?)

  7. didn’t eric release pam because the authority was after him last season and he didn’t want her to feel obligated to come with him and possibly get hurt or killed?

    • That and Russell, he wanted her to be released in case he died. She’s also a maker now and he thinks she doesn’t need him anymore, which is just not true. I still hope they’ll get their relationship back by the end of the season.

      • Exactly. They still need each other so Pam being released makes no sense to me. Even though I do admire Eric for saying Pam deserves to be on her own…I felt this took it to the extreme.

    • Oh I remember the reasons why…I just felt like it didn’t need to be done. LOL

  8. I wasn’t as keen on this episode at first viewing, probably due to the lack of Viking, and I felt a bit frustrated that it just seemed to get going then it ended, but on repeat viewing it does improve and I like it better now.

Alex and Deborah Ann Woll have both been phenomenal so far this year, but Chris Bauer gave them a run for their money here. I can’t believe we are half-way through already, if the second half is as good as the first half, it could well be my favorite season ever (though trying not to get too excited just yet!)

Is it me or is Benlow suddenly a lot less appealing now he’s sharing his scenes with Bilith?

  9. Alcide sucks! Sam needs to grow a pair. Sarah Newlin is way out of control, but i think she is very close to getting hers! Eric and Pam in a “gladiator” battle to the true death – that ain’t gonna happen – I hope they have more Eric and Pam flashbacks before they fight – we only have his making her – i always wanted to see more of them together – where is Nora? and poor Andy and daughter #1, or 2 or 3 or 4?? whichever one she was – and go ahead and kill Terry – then I know that Eric and Lala are safe

  10. Great Recap, just got back from the Drs. and read all of the above comments therefore, I really don’t have anything to add right now, just wanted ya’ll to know that I’m around and enjoying the site!!! Carry on……………..

  11. The battle between Eric and Pam is only about their frame of midn, because for Eric isn´t big problem to kill 100 years old vampire like Pam. I hope they together will kill someone behind the mirror…

  12. you know i didnt love the episode but there were some really great moments..
    1. Sookie responding to her daddy saying she loves Warlow – “you dont know me, i’m a lot smarter than that..” (yes please let it be true this time Sookie)
    2. Eric scenes – all of them (even though there werent enough at all)
    3. Pam therapy session
    4. Sarah’s comments – “havent you seen gladiator? fucking fight!” and “wait for it blondie”… her scene with Jason was also hilarious till they screwed… lol and every time she swears i cant help but laugh…
    5. LOVE Tara and Jess’s friendship, absolutely love those two together… really sweet and beautiful friendship dynamic…
    6. Although it was super short and we dont know anything about her yet, i really am intrigued by Violet…
    7. Eric, Eric and yeah Eric!! :)

  13. loved your recap and I agreee with it, but my only question is why does Eric look like he has the bleeds in his ears?

    • Because it was probably daylight at the time, I wouldn’t put it past those people to keep vampires awake during the day to see how long they can last.

    • I noticed that too…but I don’t know either.

    • Yes it was definitely day-time when some of the stuff was happening in Vamp Camp. They are obviously keeping them awake as well.

  14. Even though i absolutely hate eric being in vamp camp, he looks so handsome in blue!!!

    • Yes! I like the fact Eric and also Pam are nr. 1, because they are allways and everywhere the best

  15. Benlow LOL that’s allot better than what I was calling him..

I said I thought he would have a sob story she forgives or Bill would save the day. I guess I was partly right and wrong on both. At least she didn’t re-discover that burning love for Bill as I predicted. And god please let her retain some common sense regarding Benlow and Billith.

Honestly I’m sorry but not really impressed with Warlow I always end up comparing him to Eric and its like comparing cube steak to filet mignon there is no comparison and if Sookie has a lick of sense she will remember that as well. Actor is good I saw him in Pacific Rim and he was quite convincing but he needs to go already we have Bill as a whiney mama’s boy we don’t need two of them.

As for the episode over all I too tentatively liked but I’m hesitant to say this because every time I do someone in charge on TB pisses me off again via making Sookie stupid or again focusing on too many extraneous characters instead of the ones I’m biting my nails over. So I’m crossing my fingers for Lala, Pam, Eric and Sook.. Since Alcide bores me Sam bores me and the Terry story as much as I like him has gone on too long. And Andy… poor Andy.. always out gunned and out maneuvered. Sigh

  16. I don’t even know if I’ve fully digested what has happened yet: I think I’m probably more worried about what the previews for next week are showing on the back of this week’s episode than just the eppy itself.

And yes, Alex was absolutely painfully beautiful in his reaction to seeing Pam, but I find the whole thing horrendous: then again I’m not much one for angst, why watch it when it happens in real life enough?

*sigh* I too just wanted to say top recap, loved the Anchorman reference, and until this death thing is sorted out, I’m going to be in my own glass case of emotion, I could be there awhile… :)

  17. Love the recap!! By the way, do you think Sarah could rescind Jessica’s invite because Jason impregnated her? If not the writers keep messing things up!!

    • They just had sex, it wouldn’t have happened that fast. Some people think she was already pregnant with the Governor’s child.

  18. I can’t stand the pack shit. Sarah Newlin is done, someone stick a fork in her! Please!

    • I hoped Alcide would be good choice for pack to allay the wild members, but he is the same idiot and killer like the others. Go to woods and never come back!

      • I was actually proud of Alcide for taking over last season, but he’s ruined that by letting the power go to his head. He’s become everything he’s always claimed to hate, so sick of it.

  19. I can agree with the feeling ‘I’m in a glass case of emotion’! I actually can’t wait for the next episode yet i don’t think i can bare to watch it as the same time…Eric and Pam have to BOTH come out of this alive or i think my heart will be forever broken. And as always i’m hoping that next weeks episode will contain more of my favourite viking vampire though as always i do anticipate that i shall be disappointed :-(

  20. […] kick off this issue with my review from last week’s True Blood episode, “The One Where Sookie Seeks The Truth – While Eric Visits Vamp Camp”! Don’t be afraid to share your thoughts about this episode […]
