“The Giver” Featurette

Earlier today, The Giver Movie on Twitter announced they would be sharing a featurette of their movie “The Giver”, which as you know features our main man, Alexander Skarsgård.

Yahoo! Movies shared the featurette on their website and you can watch it below!

This featurette shows a few scenes from the movie and interviews the book’s author, Lois Lowry. There is a glimpse of Alex though…but if you blink, you might miss him. This featurette further explains “The Giver” and what we can expect from the movie and how Lois Lowry got the idea in the first place.

We couldn’t get the player to work on here, so please just click on the image of Alex below to watch.

Looks like it’s a very thought provoking film, with some very talented actors in it.

  1. Ooh, thank you, Erika, for sharing this Giver featurette with us! :) I am definitely seeing this film as soon as I’m able. I have the book. I STILL haven’t read it yet. :) It’s a quick read. I promise myself I WILL read it before I see the film. Lois Lowry seems like an interesting, thoughtful person to me.

It seems to me like a lot of thought went into this film as well. I know there has been upset from some people who actually have read the book because the filmmakers made changes in their book-to-film adaptation. I’m not dismissing their concerns, but since Lowry clearly is on board with the changes, and seems so far very much to be a person of integrity in her writing to me, I’m not worked up about it myself (to be fair, I’ll see how I feel after I read the book :) ). Changes are made all the time in book-to-film (and book-to-TV) adaptations. As long as they are good changes, it doesn’t bother me.

Nice to see Alex for a few seconds. :) I’d have to see this film anyway because he’s in it and I respect him as an actor, but even if he wasn’t in it, I would still see it because I am interested in the subject matter (that’s my criteria for critiquing an Alex film: would I still see-and like-the film even if he wasn’t in it?). The Brenton Thwaites character senses there is something evil and corrupt going on in the society in which he lives. Oh, if only Sookie had that same sense that something is terribly wrong and off and OOC in Bon Temps and DID something about it. :) Thanks again, Erika. :)

  2. I’m going to see it!
