Alexander Skarsgard To Appear At The Spirit Awards

Alexander Skarsgard will be appearing at the 2012 Film Independent Spirit Awards this Saturday, Feb. 25th, according to SkarsgardNews.com.

Alex will attend the 2012 Film Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica, CA, because his film, Melancholia – in which he stars in along side Kirsten Dunst, Kiefer Sutherland and Charlotte Gainsbourg; has been nominated for Best International Film.

Date: Saturday February 25th, 2012
Time: Broadcast will air at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on IFC

Whilst the Hasbro International Toy Fair might not be the first place you would look if you were searching for an early valentine treat, yesterday in New York you might just have got lucky.

Actors Taylor Kitsch  and Alexander Skarsgard  along with director Peter Berg of the upcoming Universal Pictures’ ‘Battleship’ movie, react to the movie’s game and toy line while visiting Hasbro’s American International Toy Fair showroom in New York, February 13, 2012.

Of course the most important question the Battleship toy collection raises is – will there be an Alex toy and will we be allowed to play with it?

Here at Eric and Sookie headquarters we had our fingers and toes crossed for her since she let us know of her mission. Alexander Skarsgard To Ring NASDAQ’s Bell

To all who love to watch the stock market (or have significant others who do), then you better have your DVR’s set to record the opening bell on Monday, Feb. 13!

Global branded play company Hasbro will visit the NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square to celebrate the upcoming release of Universal Pictures’ epic action-adventure Battleship, inspired by Hasbro’s classic naval combat game.

In honor of the occasion, Brian Goldner, Hasbro President & CEO, along with Battleship’s director, Peter Berg, and one of the film’s stars, Alexander Skarsgård, will ring the opening bell.

Battleship opens in theaters on May 18, 2012.

Alexander Skarsgard appeared at the DeLeon Tequila party held at the Boom Boom Room on Thursday (February 9) in New York City. He attended the event as part of New York Fashion Week.

Charlaine To Appear at UCR Palm Desert

The Sookie Stackhouse series hits home for so many readers and HBO fans because of the quality of the author’s fantasy world, according to a UCR Palm Desert professor.

Charlaine Harris will bring her insights to Palm Desert, CA this week for a lecture at UCR Palm Desert.

“The books have become cultural touchstones,” said Tod Goldberg, Administrative Director of UCR Palm Desert Graduate Center’s MFA in Creative Writing and Writing for the Performing Arts.

Goldberg will moderate the lecture, which is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17 as part of the Arts and Letters Lecture Series.

“The TV show has propelled her and her books into the cultural spotlight,” Goldberg said, adding that Harris’ 11 novels have spawned a new generation of vampires.

The popular fiction hits home for so many readers and HBO fans because of the quality of the author’s fantasy world, he said.

“She’s dealing with issues of sexuality and belonging that are part of what the fabric of humanity is,” Goldberg said.

He said Harris tackles the issue of “ who do you love, do you love the wrong person, or in this case the wrong vampire?”

“She’s not recreating the wheel. She’s creating a whole different spin. It’s a completely different animal,” Goldberg said.

He said that most people have at the very least heard of the TV show mainly because of a Rolling Stone magazine cover showing Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård) naked and covered in blood last September.

The books and show follow the fictional life of Sookie Stackhouse and her attraction to vampires in Bon Temps, Louisiana.

Goldberg said the fictional world provides an escape to many fans, and that does not have to mean it lessens the books’ literary quality.

“Is Charlaine Harris America’s finest writer? Probably not. But she’s a great writer,” Goldberg said. “… some books just need to provide escapism. They’re funny. They’re sexy. They’re entertaining.”

Charlaine Harris: Book Signing In Redondo Beach

To all those who live in the Redondo Beach, CA area – Charlaine Harris may be appearing at Mysterious Galaxy, a new independent bookstore specializing in the mystery, science fiction, fantasy and horror genres.

The store is in its official grand opening month. In honor of this event, they are having book signings and panels from celebrity authors.

Charlaine will be appearing at Mysterious Galaxy on Oct 26, which is located at: 2810 Artesia Blvd. in North Redondo Beach.

Before you start planning to attend…this has not been confirmed by Charlaine Harris at this time…but we’ll keep you posted!

Alexander Skarsgård appeared at the Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) earlier today! Movieline.com did an interview with Alex at the festival!

This is crazy, right?
Yeah! Especially considering I just got off a plane from Sweden. It’s like, wild.

Yowza. I heard you’re a Hamptons regular?
I’ve actually been coming out a lot this summer, because I’ve been shooting in New York the past two and a half months. My best friend, who’s out here tonight with her husband, they have a house out in Amagansett. So on weekends, when I’m done shooting, that’s where I go off to. I’ve been out there a lot this year.

I think you’re the third Skarsgård we’ve interviewed in the last year after your father, Stellan, and your younger brother Bill. What’s the professional dynamic like in the family? Is it competitive? Do you guys ever want the same roles?
Well, I’m 14 years older than Bill, and my brother Gus, we’re quite different. We usually don’t go after the same parts. So I wouldn’t say its competitive. But we do talk a lot about work, and we do encourage each and try to keep each other motivated.

And you and father co-star in Melancholia, which is a masterpiece — but seems kind of overshadowed these days by the Lars von Trier circus.
Not really.

Really? Do you think he’s done a disservice to the film? Or is all publicity good publicity?
I mean, I don’t think he did. The movie’s so strong, and I think pretty quickly, people are focusing on the movie again after that comment.

Straw Dogs had a tough go of things recently, which is too bad. What was your take on the film and its reception?
I don’t know. I don’t read reviews, so… I don’t like knowing.

Did you see it?
Yeah! Yeah, I’ve seen it. I’m happy with it! I think it’s good, and I’m happy with my part.

But no reviews.
No. No, I just… don’t.

Not even the positive ones?
No.

I always find it interesting that he refuses to read any reviews or articles about himself and/or his career. It’s refreshing because all the publicity won’t go to his head and he seems like a down-to-earth kind of guy.

Charlaine Harris Interviewed at Bouchercon

It’s interesting that she thinks Chris Bauer (Andy) and Kristin Bauer (Pam) are the two actors who look most like the characters she imagined in her head when she writes. As for her thoughts on Anna playing Sookie? She admits, she’s not the Sookie she pictured in her head, but she thinks she does a great job.

She also shared the book scene she’s most proud of and that’s when Sookie watches Godfrey ‘meet the sun’!

Her story about meeting a fan who had Alexander Skarsgard tattooed on her shoulder and wanted her to make out the autograph to ‘Mrs. Alexander Skarsgard’ and her stunned reaction was very amusing! (I know many people who would do the same exact thing! ;) )

Anna & Stephen: Make A Point

Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer appeared at the Point Foundation’s 10th Anniversary at the Jim Henson Studios in Los Angeles on Saturday night. The Point Foundation is the nation’s largest LGBT scholarship-granting organization.

“This has been great – it’s exhilarating,” said Point Foundation co-founder Carl Strickland. “We hoped, but we never thought that it would be as big as it has become, and we’re happy.”

Honestly, I think it’s great that Anna (who came out as a bisexual earlier this year) is showing her support for a foundation which helps grants scholarships to the LGBT.

Alexander Skarsgard appeared on the US television talk show, Regis & Kelly on August 3rd!

Nothing new was really revealed about the show or himself, but they show a clip from True Blood, with Eric, Sookie and Bill.

Kelly looks absolutely charmed by him and even asked him to take off his clothes!  :lol:

“Oh gawd…I look like a Harry Potter character,” he says, when he sees one of the photos of himself from Leeds.
