True Blood on Twitter Holiday Writing Contest

We’d like to inform you, True Blood on Twitter is holding their second writing contest – in which they will act out the winning story live on Twitter!

Here are all the pertinent details…

The holidays are approaching and provide the perfect setting for your story to take place.  Here is some background to help get you started:

King Bill has decided to hold a charity holiday party to foster goodwill between Humans and Vampires.  In keeping with Bill and Eric working as a team, the King has asked Eric to co-host the party with him and  has also pulled Sookie in to be the hostess to provide the Human touch, thereby continuing the “triangle” that was present all through Season 4

Our premise will be Eric’s recent memory loss has stirred up his real life memories coupled with Sookie’s rejection causing him to want to go “home” in solitude for the holidays.  Sookie is going to come up with incorporating the Norse theme of Jul (Yule) into the party in order to keep Eric there to help them.

Create your True Blood holiday story using the background setup we have provided and the theme of Jul. It can take place just before the party starts, during the event or immediately after. This is a celebration of new beginnings and endings, what might that mean in the world of True Blood? Could something happen that increases tension between Sookie, Bill and Eric? Does something or someone go wrong at the party? Is our Vampire/Faerie triangle mysteriously transported to days of old and a real Viking Jul celebration? Does everyone live happily ever after? Wait, this is Bon Temps we are talking about, that would never happen. Only you know what you want to unfold and this is your chance to tell us all.

(Performance disclaimer: Characters other than the three mentioned in our setup can be used but are subject to availability for actual Twitter performance).

Our panel of judges will choose first, second and third place winners from the submissions and True Blood on Twitter group members will act out the winning story, live on Twitter, as a special holiday event.

First place prize is a signed Alexander Skarsgard print by Kristin Bauer van Straten.  Runner up prizes will also be awarded for second and third place winners.

Contest Rules

  • The contest will open on Oct 23, 2011 and runs through Dec 1, 2011
  • All entries must be received by December 1, 2011  11:59 pm CST
  • All entries must be a minimum of 2500 words a maximum of 8,000
  • All entries must be in a Microsoft Word compatible document (Gdocs would be preferable)
  • No more than 2 entries per writer EXCLUDING collaborations.
  • Collaborations are allowed and encouraged, no more than 2 per author
  • All entries must be NEW stories
  • All entries must include a disclaimer for True Blood and HBO
  • Members of the True Blood on Twitter Group are excluded from participation
  • All entrants must be at least 18 years of age
  • All entries must be beta’d.*  For those of you who need a beta see the info below.
  • Submitted stories must incorporate the holiday party theme and can take place immediately before, during or after the party.

  •  Originality and development of the plot
  •  Storyline flow (clear,organized)
  •  Character (voice and development)

What’s this HUGE announcement we were hinting about late Friday night?

We’re pleased to inform you…we’re going to be hosting a music video challenge!

We tell you the rules and Eric & Sookie lovers (who are interested), submit a video they create to us!

Visitors of our site will vote to determine which music video they want to win!

The winning video will be featured in a prominent area on our site! Plus, many accolades by us!

Sounds like fun? We certainly hope so!

Let us tell you about the first challenge…

This first challenge came to us after watching episode 6, “I Wish I Were The Moon”… How many fell in love with that song by Neko Case? It’s a really beautiful song!

This got us thinking…what could Eric & Sookie lovers come up with that contained this song AND showed clips of Eric & Sookie from Season 4? We know there’s some music videos already up on You Tube which feature this, but we thought we’d make it EXTRA challenging! Not only this…but your video MUST contain at least one kissing scene and one making love scene! All previously uploaded videos to this song, can be submitted…but you MUST mention that it is submitted as an entry in the Eric & Sookie Music Video Challenge at our site (ericandsookielovers.com)!

Citrus Tree Fanfic Contest

On a hot summer day…what’s more refreshing than having some cool, sweet lemonade? Or, how about some 7Up with a touch of lime? Even better…how about some SVM Fanfics that contain lemons and/or limes to tempt your tastebuds?

Good news! There’s a new fanfic contest beginning soon that promises to quench your SVM lovin’ thirst!

Our good friends, Rebellina and BlackDeadOrchids (a couple of great fanfic writers), are hosting a SVM fanfic writing contest called, “The Citrus Tree Contest”!

Here’s how it works…

Write a citrus filled story starring your favorite SVM characters. Each chapter must contain at least ONE lemon or lime. Write it classy or trashy, either way, it should be filled to the brim with sex.

Sounds good? Wait! There’s more!

For those who don’t know what we mean by lemons and limes when it comes to fanfics, here are some definitions for you!

What is a lemon? Wikipedia defines a lemon as: Lemon features explicit sex stories, and they sometimes fall under the broader PWP distinction. The name derives from a term which comes from a Japanese slang term for “sexy” that itself derives from an early pornographic anime series called Cream Lemon.


What is a lime? Wikipedia defines a lime as: The term lime denotes a story that has sexual themes but is not necessarily explicit. Authors may call their stories “citrusy”, indicating that their story is a lemon or lime to varying degrees.

For the sake of this contest and appropriateness, Limes can be anything from strong sexual tension to soft core but there should be attraction there from the first chapter.


What is PWP? Wikipedia defines PWP as: ”Porn without plot” or “Plot? What plot?” are terms used to indicate that a story contains little or no plot, and instead contains little more than sexual interactions or pornography; PWP is also called smut.

Rules:

  • OPEN TO EVERYONE! Virgin and Experienced should take a shot! Participants from sites other than fanfiction.net are encouraged to enter!
  • 100 – 100,000 words including Authors Notes and header. If you can’t make it work with that much range then this contest might not be right for you!
  • There are two categories to choose One-Shot or Multi- Chapter Fic. No limit on the amount of chapters but do not forget each chapter must have some form of sexual theme.
  • Canon SVM, AU, OOC or AH! No Crossfics, please!
  • Open pairings but slash, BDSM, and other extremes must contain BOLD WARNINGS in the A/N.
  • Entries require a beta through the whole piece. If you know you need one, there are people to help you.
  • Maximum 3 entries. Collaborations welcome but each person can only have 3 submissions total.
  • Must be a new story. If we see it was posted before the submission date it will be disqualified and removed from the C2 and voting.
  • Include a disclaimer (on each chapter) that you do not own the SVM characters. Be sure to give credit to any media that influences you.
  • Must be 18 years old to enter this contest! Gratuitous violence or rape will not be tolerated. Pedophilia will not be tolerated. Just because it is labeled BDSM doesn’t mean that if you create a rape scene to force the character into submission it will be allowed. Your story will instantly be pulled from the C2 and blogs. Please use good judgment when writing questionable themes in your story. Remember YKINMK “Your kink is not my kink” when writing.
  • Be sure to direct people to this blog for voting. We will be using polldaddy.com to tabulate votes as well as the polling on www.fanfiction.net/~TheCitrusTreeContest2011. Voting begins Oct 1st and ends Oct 23rd.
  • Send a direct link to your story when you enter.

Entries Dates and Requirements:

Submissions begin: Monday, August 1st, 2011
Final submission: Friday, September 30th, 2011 @ 10 pm PST, 12pm CST.
This contest requires your story to be marked complete by Midnight CST on Sept 30th. No exceptions. 

Public voting runs from October 1st- 23rd. 

Judges vote runs from October 1st- 23rd.

Please vote, it is the only way to make sure your favorite gets the recognition it deserves!

Winners Announced October 28th by Midnight CST!

Title the email Contest Submission By: (Pen Name).

All fics must contain the following info in it’s Authors Note on the first chapter: Contest Name, Title of Story, Pen Name, Beta Name (Include all you use), and Disclaimer.

True Blood On Twitter Writing Contest

We have a fanfic writing contest to tell you about!

True Blood on Twitter is a role player site for True Blood role players on Twitter. They would like to invite you to participate in their first writing contest!

If you’ve ever imagined that you could write a scene for some of your favorite True Blood™ characters, this is your opportunity to do just that.

They have chosen three “sneak peek” video previews for the upcoming Season 4 as inspiration for you to create the story of what happened next.  Choose one as the starting point for your story and let your imagination take over.

The panel of judges will choose first, second and third place winners from the submissions and True Blood on Twitter group members will act the winning story out, live on Twitter, as a special event leading up to Sunday, June 26 and the first episode of Season 4 of True Blood™.

Second and third place entries will be performed at a later date. First place prize is a copy of True Blood: The Complete Third Season on DVD. Runner up prizes will also be awarded for the second and third place winners.

It’s called the Unsolved Mysteries Contest!

What is the Unsolved Mysteries Contest all about?

History is riddled with mysteries. Who built the pyramids? What really happened in Area 51? Did Mrs. O’Leary’s cow really start the Great Chicago Fire? Were vampires responsible for the disappearance of the “Mary Celeste”?

Tell them your ideas to explain how members of the supernatural community were actually responsible for these unsolved mysteries and covered it up or got away with it. Maybe Big Foot was actually a Were. Or maybe Bill was the infamous Jack the Ripper. Was the Trojan War actually started by supernatural creatures vying for the love of the beautiful Fairy, Helen? Just how were the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World made? The field of ideas is wide open. Just tell them what you think the “real” story was.

How do I participate?

Simple. Find a great, unsolved mystery or phenomenon. Or even take a great story and tell them what “really” happened. It’s that simple. Just make sure it has Supes!

When does the competition start?

March 28th: Submission opens

May 22nd: Final submission deadline closes at 10 pm Pacific time, 12 pm Central time.

May 29th: Final judging deadline

May 30th: Public voting begins

June 5th: Public voting ends

There’s a new fanfic writing contest you should know about! :D

It’s called, The Indie Fic Competition!

Here’s what it’s all about…

Write a totally original story using the Southern Vampire Mysteries/TrueBlood characters; any pairing, any rating as long as the vamps are vamps, the human are human and the supes are supes.

Saturday March 12th ~ Official Launch

Monday March 14th ~ Start sending those entries in!

Comp closes: Saturday 30th April ~ Midnight UK/ 6pm CST/ 5pm EST/ 2pm LA (west coast time PST)

Valentine’s Fae Tales: New Fanfic Contest

Hey Eric & Sookie Lovers! :)

Do you love Fairytales? Did you grow up watching or reading those classic fairytales such as; Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty…etc? Have you ever wished the Eric/Sookie romance took on a more fairytale type storyline? Look no further…there’s a fanfic contest going on right now in our fandom where your wish will come true! The organizers have requested my help in getting the word out about it! :)

Here’s what the contest is all about:

Fairy tales usually have happy endings. We all know what has happened in stories like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White. It is usually a lot of romance where the princes come to the rescue.What happens when the prince is a Viking vampire or Cinderella is actually a telepath? How far can Sookie fall down the rabbit hole before Mad Hatter Eric catches her? What if Sookie fell asleep for 1000 years because of a curse and it took a young Eric to kiss her and break the spell?

Play with your imagination. Be funny or serious. Make it a mystery or an epic fairy tale romance.

Whatever you are into, write your own version of a SVM fairy tale.

Happily Ever Afters and Lemons not required but appreciated.

Sounds good, doesn’t it? *SIGH* I can definitely picture Eric & Sookie in similar circumstances, can’t you?
