Vulture tells us “Who is HBO’s biggest asshole?”

In a post by Vulture.com, they list out who they think “Who HBO’s biggest asshole?” character is. Or the more PC term of “Anti Hero”.

While Game of Thrones Joffrey takes the top honor as Top Asshole most deservedly

Our favorite bad ass vamp Eric Northman was listed at number 8.

Here is what they had to say about our beloved Viking

8. True Blood asshole: Eric (Alexander Skarssgard)
Especially in early seasons, Eric was a suave jerk, a sexual predator, a captor, and a torturer — but goddamn, that is one good-looking jerk. As the show’s gone on, he’s shown a slightly softer side, and his pouty “Sookie” is far sweeter than Bill’s huffy pronunciation.

Take a look at the complete list right here.
What do you think? Do you agree with there list? Do you think someone else should be on the list instead?

The Sookie Stackhouse Companion Nominated

Charlaine Harris revealed on her Facebook page, The Sookie Stackhouse Companion has been nominated for an award!

This is what she said;

I am honored to share the news that THE SOOKIE COMPANION has been nominated for an Agatha in the nonfiction category. For those of you who don’t follow the mystery world, the Agatha awards are presented at Malice Domestic in the Washington, D.C. area, every spring. I am blown away by this.

This is great news – especially after that EW fiasco…this must make her feel a lot better about her writing.

Congratulations Charlaine! Good luck and hope you win this award!

If you would like to share your best wishes, feel free to do so below! (Who knows? Maybe Charlaine will read it!)

Meet the new Alexander

WARNING – SEASON 5 CASTING – don’t read below if you don’t want to know!

True-blood.net is today reporting that the role of the vampire Alexander Drew (who was turned vampire when he was just 9 years old) has now been cast and has gone to young actor Jacob Hopkins.

Jacob certainly has the right angelic look that could more than adequately disguise the dangerous vampire that lies beneath, and those baby blue eyes would surely melt the hardest of hearts. Child vampires such as Anne Rice’s tragic Claudia or the eerie Eli from “Let the right one in” can have an amazing impact on the mostly adult vamp-loving audience. We will have to wait and see if this member of The Authority is going to become a classic child vamp or whether the True Blood writers will play him for laughs and make Alexander, who loves smoking and razzing his fellow council members, a more comic character.

Let us know what you think of the newest casting and whether you are looking forward to seeing a child vamp on True Blood.

Alex and Taylor Kitsch promote “Battleship”

Whilst the Hasbro International Toy Fair might not be the first place you would look if you were searching for an early valentine treat, yesterday in New York you might just have got lucky.

Actors Taylor Kitsch  and Alexander Skarsgard  along with director Peter Berg of the upcoming Universal Pictures’ ‘Battleship’ movie, react to the movie’s game and toy line while visiting Hasbro’s American International Toy Fair showroom in New York, February 13, 2012.

Of course the most important question the Battleship toy collection raises is – will there be an Alex toy and will we be allowed to play with it?

Anna & Alex – movie news

Screen Daily are today reporting that Anna Paquin is set to star in “Black Wings Has My Angel”, along side Tom Hiddleston and Elijah Wood. Filming is due to begin in September.

The story is about an escaped convict and high-class call girl whose lives are changed by an armored car heist.

See more details here at screendaily

No word yet of any projects Alex will be working on after True Blood Season 5 wraps in the summer but there is now a poster for his movie Disconnect.

And don’t forget to watch out for Alex ringing the NASDAQ Opening Bell in New York on Monday (around 9.15 ET) as part of the promotion for Battleship.

Alexander Skarsgard To Ring NASDAQ’s Bell

Director Peter Berg

To all who love to watch the stock market (or have significant others who do), then you better have your DVR’s set to record the opening bell on Monday, Feb. 13!

Global branded play company Hasbro will visit the NASDAQ MarketSite in Times Square to celebrate the upcoming release of Universal Pictures’ epic action-adventure Battleship, inspired by Hasbro’s classic naval combat game.

In honor of the occasion, Brian Goldner, Hasbro President & CEO, along with Battleship’s director, Peter Berg, and one of the film’s stars, Alexander Skarsgård, will ring the opening bell.

Battleship opens in theaters on May 18, 2012.

I wish Alex would ring MY bell too! Oops…did I just say that aloud? LOL I think this could be a great day on the stock market!

Hopefully, we will be able to get our hands on a video of this event, and we’ll share it on here!

What do you think? Does Alex ring your bell too? Share your thoughts below!

TV Characters That Should Be Killed Off

Aside

This might bring a smile to your Eric & Sookie lovin’ face!

Over at Chacha.com they picked 15 TV Characters That Should Be Killed Off…there’s one in particular, you will be happy to find out they picked! Hehehehe…

This is what they said about Queen Beehl…

9. Bill Compton, ‘True Blood’

Prior to season 4, I would’ve definitely chosen Tara for this spot instead. But she grew on me during the fourth season, and I’d be sad to see her go at this point. Bill, on the other hand, did get some bonus points from me for his new role as the King of Louisiana, but I’m still over him. Team Eric all the way.

Also, important note: I would love to get rid of Sookie on occasion, but she’s such an integral part of the show that it’s really not even worth contemplating her demise.

Those listed alongside Bill are; Cindy Brady (The Brady Bunch), Bernadette (The Big Bang Theory), Hilary (Fresh Prince of Bel Air)…plus many more! Check them out here!

TV Ratings for True Blood’s UK Premiere

For those who are interested in the TV ratings, we have the results from the UK’s True Blood premiere last night!

True Blood returned to FX with 249,000 viewers (1.3%) at 10pm.

True Blood was distantly behind Being Human, which had 889,000 viewers, a 3.4% share of the audience between 9pm and 10pm on BBC3, with a further 227,000 (0.87%) for the BBC HD simulcast, for 1.12 million in total.

Does this mean that Being Human, another supernatural show is more popular than True Blood in the UK?

We find this hard to believe when you have a scene like this between Eric & Sookie…

What are your thoughts? Sound off below!

Stephen Moyer gives Sookie teaser for Season 5

True Blood actor Stephen Moyer has been busy helping promote Season 4 in his native UK, and according to the UK Press Association, he even offered a little tease for Season 5.

The actor hinted that season five will offer more changes for Bill and Sookie.

“There is something that happens at the beginning of the season which changes their relationship again” he teased.

Information source UKPA here

Could this be concerning Tara? Or maybe just that as Bill and Eric may be on the run away from Bon Temps, Sookie will be moving on? Perhaps Sookie becomes immune to Bill’s poisoned blood? Maybe Bill is going to emigrate to Peru finally and they will just become long distance pen-pals?

Seriously, why can't he just take the hint and leave?

We are in a positive mood today so hopefully it means Sookie and Bill’s relationship is going to move further away from how it has been in previous seasons. Team Eric and Sookie must never give up hope!

Let us know what you think it might be in the comments below.

True Blood Season 5 Graphic Tease

According to True-blood.net HBO will be airing a True Blood Season 5 Graphic Tease during the debut of their new show LUCK. The short graphic will air around  8.58pm, just before a Game of Thrones trailer.

This will be our very first sign for the coming season – so what might it be? We’ve had the season of the wolf and the season of the witch – maybe it will be the season of something that actually makes sense? Maybe the graphic will be a big tease that gives away nothing. I guess we’ll soon find out.

Update from True Blood Facebook page – it will be on Sunday night just before LUCK premiere airs.

Virgin Media TV Awards: The Results

Do you remember voting in the Virgin Media TV Awards?

We have the final results to share with you!

Alexander Skarsgard, who plays Eric Northman was nominated in two polls!

Here are the final numbers:

Character of the Year – Eric Northman was #2, with 17.39% of the votes!

Hottest Male – Alexander Skarsgard was #3, with 15.44% of the votes!

We think he should’ve been higher, but we’ll take this!

He was behind Ian Somerhalder (The Vampire Diaries) and Bradley James (Merlin) for Hottest Male. He came in second only to Rory Williams (Doctor Who) for TV Character of the Year.

That’s quite an achievement, considering this poll is based in the UK!

Here are some more results: Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse) came in at #5, with 5.12% of the votes for Hottest Female! Deborah Ann Woll (Jessica) came in at #4, with 5.95% of the votes in the same category!

You can see all of the rest of final results here!

Congratulations Alex and Anna and thanks to all of you for voting!

TOP 50 VAMPIRES

SFX Magazine have just released their list of the top 50 blood-suckers of all time, as voted for by their magazine / on-line readers. Eric Northman was a lowly 41 on their previous list in 2010, but thankfully voters have seen vampire sense this time around and he has climbed 39 places to number 2. This is what they had to say about him:

Eric the Viking. Once a phrase that immediately meant “flop comedy from the Monty Python guy”. Now it means, “Top Nordic vampire hottie.” Bill was supposed to be the alpha vampire on True Blood, but – although far from unpopular – he was eclipsed by his blond nightclub owner boss in the popularity stakes (if “stakes” isn’t too sensitive a word to use). As in so many other cases (Spike and Damon, for instance) he benefitted from the fact that he didn’t have to be the nice guy. Far from it – he’s an utter git, chaining Lafayette to a slave wheel, and tricking Sookie into drinking his blood. Not to mention all the killing. But it’s more than that. Eric is just so inherently cool. So cool it doesn’t matter if he does a bit of killing while getting his hair dyed; or if he cries when his maker dies; or if he wears a shell suit. He remains untouchable cool. Hell, he’s survived centuries with the name Eric. That’s how cool he is.

source- true blood wikia

He was beaten to top spot by Damon from The Vampire Diaires (and I think I’d better not comment on that!). All in all there was an excellent showing for True Blood, with Russell at 21, Jessica at 11, Bill at 9 and Pam at 5.

See the whole of the top 50 here and let us know what you think of the results in the comments.

Anna wins London Film Critics Award

Our lovely Anna Paquin was triumphant last night, jointly winning the Best Actress prize at the London Film Critics Circle Awards, for her performance in MARGARET. She shared her award with Meryl Streep, and let’s face it that ain’t bad company to keep for any actress!

I really, really want to see this movie, as I’ve heard nothing but good things about it. Why the heck did it take so long to surface.

The Fangreaders Awards 2012

Featured

To all SVM/TB fanfic readers out there…we have a special announcement just for you!  We were asked by the Fangreaders Chat Group, to pass this on…

The Fangreaders Awards

Awards in Excellence

in the SVM/TB Fanfic Fandom

Since January 2011 the Fangreaders (http://fangreaders.blogspot.com/) have been chatting about and sharing their favourite SVM/TB fanfiction stories. What started with a few enthusiasts has grown into a community of over 200 fanfic readers and writers, stretching over several time-zones – and we just keep getting bigger and bigger! New members are signing up every week to take part in our online discussions in the Fangreaders chat room, the Fangreaders Chatroom Central blog site, Fang_Readers Community on LiveJournal, and the Caffe Trieste forum.

You may have heard of a previous Fangreader organised event – The Lemon Tart Awards. This event celebrated the sassy and sexy side of fanfiction. But this time we want to go all the way – Oscars Style! In celebration of 12 wonderful months of meeting new people and making new friends – the community is bringing you ‘The Fangreader Awards’. On January the 8th, Fangreaders submitted their nominations for their most loved fanfics in ten different categories. Comedy, Romance, All Human, Angst, One-shots, series and more will be included in this event to celebrate excellence in writing and honour those who have captivated us with their plots, amused us with their banter and made our hearts flutter with excitement when they provide us with an update.

Although the Fangreaders nominated the stories for these awards –

voting is open to the entire SVM/TB fandom.

That’s right – you don’t need to be a Fangreader for your voice to be heard!

The public vote opened on Sunday 15th January 2012 and the ballot will close on 19th February 2012 11.59pm GMT. That leaves you plenty of time to catch up and read any of the stories nominated that you might have missed. Remember – you can only vote ONCE – and the goal of the Fangies is to award excellence in writing and not just be another popularity contest.

Cast your vote here: VoteFangies

An award ceremony will be held at 9pm GMT (4pm EST) on Saturday 25th February 2012 on http://fangreaders-hall-of-fame.blogspot.com/ and the best part is that the winners will be announced by your favourite SVM/TB characters!

Alex Makes EW’s Best Nudity of 2011 List

Alexander Skarsgard made Entertainment Weekly’s Best & Worst List – for Best Nudity of 2011!

Check out the scan below!

Source

Mandi Bierly from EW.com picked the scene when Amnesia Eric swims in the pond, telling Sookie she’s Ran and he’s Aegir – God of the Sea as the perfect example of nudity! Although, she mentions having Alcide in the buff added to this scene…whereas in our opinion – it would’ve been better – if he had just stayed in wolf-form or had not been there at all. Oh well…

Of course, we’re happy about this, because you may remember this was one of our picks for the best Eric & Sookie scenes of 2011!

Charity 4 Suckers: One Eric Lover’s Efforts To Raise Funds

Who says sucking isn't sexy? Eric proves it's HOT!

One of our followers on Twitter contacted us in regards to her fundraising mission to raise funds for one of Alexander Skarsgard’s favorite charities Amnesty International.

An avid vampire lover, who is a HUGE Eric lover – will donate $10 to Amnesty International for every 100 followers she receives on Twitter! This is what she said about her fundraiser and Eric Northman!

Of course I have saved the best for last because my ultimate obsession is True Blood. I mean who can resist a freaking viking vampire?!?! Eric Northman is a tall, blond god of the vampire world. *sigh* He makes me happy….lol.

To help me raise money for Amnesty International, all you have to do is follow me on Twitter and help spread the word by RTing to your followers and whoever you can think of. For every 100 followers I receive, I am donating $10.00 to Amnesty International. I will be posting updates here on my blog and Twitter, so be sure to check in to see how much has been raised! This charity spotlight will run from 1/15/12-1/29/12. At that time I will pick another star/charity to spotlight and raise money for!

Because of my undying (hardee har har) love for bloodsuckers, I have decided to team up my Twitter page to help give back to these actors that have given me so many countless hours of entertainment. There are AMAZING people with huge, giving hearts behind the characters we all have grown to love. Alexandar Skarsgard, Kristin Bauer van Straten, Ian Somerhalder, Ryan Kwanten, Deborah Ann Woll, Kellan Lutz, Stephen Moyer, Anna Paquin, Kat Graham, Nina Dobrev, Paul Wesley, Joseph Morgan…..just to name a few!

As you may have guessed…her first spotlighted star is none other than Alexander Skarsgard because he plays Eric Northman on True Blood!

This is the link to her blog to find out more info and to keep yourself updated: Charity 4 Suckers

And this is her Twitter profile, so you can follow and RT: @brushfirefairy

Melancholia Named Best Picture by National Film Critics

We have great news!

Lars von Trier’s Melancholia had its first big win in critics’ awards leading up to the Oscars, when it was named Best Picture of the Year by the National Society of Film Critics on Saturday.

The film’s Kirsten Dunst was named best actress for her performance in the film.

Until this win, the critics have largely ignored Melancholia, whose rave reviews have been overshadowed by von Trier’s antics at Cannes.

Dunst has largely been overlooked in the best actress race until now.

The society is made up of 58 of the country’s most prominent movie critics. It held its 46th annual awards voting meeting at Sardi’s Restaurant in New York City.

To find out the full list of winners, please click here!

Congratulations to the cast and crew of Melancholia, especially Kirsten Dunst!

We hope this means that Melancholia will be nominated for a number of Academy Awards! *keeping fingers crossed*
