Meet the new Alexander

WARNING – SEASON 5 CASTING – don’t read below if you don’t want to know!

True-blood.net is today reporting that the role of the vampire Alexander Drew (who was turned vampire when he was just 9 years old) has now been cast and has gone to young actor Jacob Hopkins.

Jacob certainly has the right angelic look that could more than adequately disguise the dangerous vampire that lies beneath, and those baby blue eyes would surely melt the hardest of hearts. Child vampires such as Anne Rice’s tragic Claudia or the eerie Eli from “Let the right one in” can have an amazing impact on the mostly adult vamp-loving audience. We will have to wait and see if this member of The Authority is going to become a classic child vamp or whether the True Blood writers will play him for laughs and make Alexander, who loves smoking and razzing his fellow council members, a more comic character.

Let us know what you think of the newest casting and whether you are looking forward to seeing a child vamp on True Blood.

TV Characters That Should Be Killed Off

Aside

This might bring a smile to your Eric & Sookie lovin’ face!

Over at Chacha.com they picked 15 TV Characters That Should Be Killed Off…there’s one in particular, you will be happy to find out they picked! Hehehehe…

This is what they said about Queen Beehl…

9. Bill Compton, ‘True Blood’

Prior to season 4, I would’ve definitely chosen Tara for this spot instead. But she grew on me during the fourth season, and I’d be sad to see her go at this point. Bill, on the other hand, did get some bonus points from me for his new role as the King of Louisiana, but I’m still over him. Team Eric all the way.

Also, important note: I would love to get rid of Sookie on occasion, but she’s such an integral part of the show that it’s really not even worth contemplating her demise.

Those listed alongside Bill are; Cindy Brady (The Brady Bunch), Bernadette (The Big Bang Theory), Hilary (Fresh Prince of Bel Air)…plus many more! Check them out here!

True Blood Claudine would like to return

Anyone who has been lucky enough to see the most recent series of “Sherlock” will know what a terrific actress Lara Pulver is, and it seems she would welcome a return to Bon Temps, where she played unfortunate fairy  Claudine. In an interview with  assignmentx yesterday she spoke about the possibility.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if she appears as some crazy Eric Northman sex dream at some point in season five,” she laughs. “I wouldn’t put that past Alan Ball at all. I can deal with. If Alex Skarsgard has to eat my neck for another season I can deal with it. We’ll see what happens. I have no idea; obviously they don’t stay rigid to the books.”

It looks to me like Lara is a fully paid up member of Team Eric – I mean who wouldn’t want to appear in an Eric Northman sex dream or have Alex bite their neck. Perhaps it is just wishful thinking on her part or perhaps we might yet get to see her twin sister Claudette? Let us know what you think.

Top 10 Most Annoying TV Characters

We know how much you’re going to LOVE this!

TV.com has released their Top 10 Most Annoying Characters on TV list! No, Eric and Sookie didn’t make the list, but there is someone else from True Blood who did! Can you guess who?

Image courtesy of Serena of the Sookieverseblog

If you guessed Beehl…you are correct!

3) Bill Compton, True Blood

The worst thing that can happen to a TV show is for its romantic lead to make his big entrance and then sorta… whiff it. While we love love love True Blood, we’re just not down with the fangs that Sookie Stackhouse is banging. Because he’s short and whiny and prudish and a too-awkward mixture of gruff and tender. There’s nothing dangerous about him, and isn’t the implicit danger sort of the whole point of a vampire/human love story? A nation of TB fans seem to agree with us, judging by the collective sighs of relief (and moans of… well, relief) that went up when the far more intriguing Eric strode onto the screen. We get that Bill is central to the whole saga and mythos of the story, but does he have to be such a weenie all the time, especially when standing next to the (way taller) Eric?

Hahahahahaha! Love what they say about Beehl! And he’s #3 overall too!

Can you think of a character even more annoying? I think NOT! To read the rest of their Top 10, please click here!

Special Auction: True Blood Meets The Honeybees

Remember this scene below?

Pam visits the Queen – oops, I mean King Beehl…“Oh good. The world needs more beekeepers” (he jokingly exclaimed as Pam entered his office). Pam is rotting and desperate and asks permission from her queen king to torture and kill the mousy little bitch who fucked with her face. Permission is denied (by Queen Beehl) because the AVL has forbidden vampire on human violence: punishment is the true death and Beehl doesn’t wish that for Pam.

This scene was the inspiration for this special auction with full collaboration of Stephen Moyer & Kristin Bauer Van Straten.

Stephen Moyer and Kristin Bauer Van Straten, from the HBO hit series True Blood created by Alan Ball, have lent their names to HoneyLove.org in an effort to raise funds for the honeybees!

HoneyLove is a non-profit organization that plays a vital role in protecting the urban honeybees and inspire and educate new urban beekeepers.

The items being auctioned on eBay are:

  • True Blood film reel canister signed by Stephen Moyer and Kristin Bauer Van Straten
  • Framed Rolling Stone Magazine with three True Blood stars on the cover (Alexander Skarsgård, Anna Paquin, and Stephen Moyer). Item signed by Stephen Moyer.
  • Framed Yellow honeybee tie signed by Kristin Bauer Van Straten (Pam Swynford De Beaufort) with quote saying “The World Needs More Beekeepers!” as said by Bill Compton in Season 4 of True Blood to Pam Swynford De Beaufort.
  • Framed Yellow honeybee tie signed by Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton)

As seen in the gallery below!

The sale of these items will benefit HoneyLove.org and support:

  • Honeybee rescues
  • Educating new urban beekeepers

Fiona Shaw Is On Team Eric

Credit: HBO

Fiona Shaw was interviewed by NYMAG.com!

In the interview, she opened up about being the villain this season, researching her role by attending Wiccan ceremonies, and rooting for Team Eric! Huh? Yes, you read it right! She’s on Team Eric (as if we could blame her)! ;)

Here are a few excerpts from the interview;

Were you a fan of the books or the show before you signed on for this?
Alan Ball discouraged me from reading the books, which I don’t regret; I don’t want to hanker for material I don’t have. But when I started reading the scripts, and the first lot of Latin came my way, I knew there were challenges ahead! [Laughs.] And when we had the first read-through, and suddenly seeing all these vampires in person, that was very stunning. I had to adjust and remind myself that they’re all just actors. Nan and Pam, they’re my favorites. Both vampires, both very sour.

Even though Marnie is the villain of the season, she considers her actions justified.
Oh, they’re very justified! She’s just getting on, practicing her little religion, and in comes this big thug who says she can’t practice it. What happened to democracy?

Although, if you’re going to have a big thug come after you, who better than Alexander Skarsgard? Are you Team Eric?
I’ll take him any day! [Laughs.] He’s a very nice young man. How is Sookie supposed to choose between her two vampires? It’s fantastically complicated.

Sookie & Pam Clip

Hey Eric & Sookie Lovers!

Earlier Monday morning, Kristin Bauer Van Straten appeared on Good Day LA! We have the You Tube links for you to watch her interview and more importantly…the Sookie and Pam scene they show during the interview!

This is just the Sookie and Pam scene from the interview…

This is the whole thing…

I really wish they would have Sookie and Pam bond closer on the show, like they do in the books.

What do you think?

Nan & Bill: More than “Friends”?

Hey Eric & Sookie Lovers!

Jessica Tuck (who plays Nan on True Blood) says her character takes on an increasingly significant role in Season 4. She recently spilled some beans about her character during the upcoming season on True Blood!

This is what she said…

“It would be foolish to think that her efforts were just about making humans and vamps one big happy family,” Tuck tells True Blood’s Nest of Nan’s work to mainstream vampires. “There is an agenda behind her agenda but that is not for me to reveal right now. Stay tuned.”

And while we see her ordering Bill around quite a bit, the actress says there’s something more underneath their adversarial relationship.

“All I can say is that Nan and Bill have a history,” she says. “Details of that history will be revealed in Season 4. If I say anything more than that, I’ll get myself in trouble.”

“Relationships between the characters get much more complicated and redefined,” Tuck also says. “I love this season – I think there is a lot to sink your teeth into. You won’t be disappointed.”

True Blood Role Cast

Hey Eric & Sookie Lovers! :)

True Blood has cast another role for Season 4! :D

Peter Macdissi was cast in a recurring role to play Luis Patiño, a vampire sheriff in Louisiana, who harbors a troubled past with ties to the Spanish Inquisition, torture, and the witches that are settling in Bon Temps.

Wonder what ties he has with the witches? Any ideas?

Melancholia Reviews Cannes Rolling In

Hey Eric & Sookie Lovers! :)

We have a couple of reviews from the Cannes Film Festival, where Alex’s new movie, Melancholia is featured!

This first review is from The Telegraph!

It begins, a la The Tree Of Life, with a succession of striking, sometimes cosmological images – extreme slow-motion of birds falling from the sky as Kirsten Dunst, wearing a bridal dress, gazes impassively at the camera; a horse tumbles to ground; a small planet drifts inexorably towards earth before crashing into it. Very soon this visual pageantry gives way to the handheld, intimate style that characterizes most of the film.

Dunst is Justine, an advertising copywriter who’s about to get married (to a sweet, but rather out-of-his depth chap played Alexander Skarsgard) at a remote and lavish castle. The wedding has been organized by her sister Claire (Charlotte Gainsbourg) and brother-in-law (Kiefer Sutherland), but quickly slides into a Festen-style nearest-and-dearest disaster: Justine’s parents (John Hurt, obsessed with women called Betty, and a deliciously citric Charlotte Rampling) don’t get on; her arrogant boss (Stellan Skarsgard) is trying to conduct business; she herself, when she’s not crying or holding up proceedings by taking leisurely baths, has sex with a stranger on the estate’s golf course.

Justine suffers from depression, almost a pathetic fallacy seeing that a planet called Melancholia is heading for a collision course with Earth within days. The film, split into two sections, contrasts the two sisters: Justine, troubled, but with a darker vision of existence that seems not only to chime with Von Trier’s, but to better prepare her for the onrushing calamity than Claire’s more rational, almost bourgeois perspective.

***

The apocalypse, when it comes, is so beautifully rendered that the film cements the quality of fairy tale that its palatial setting suggests. Music, including a Wagnerian overture, is used to maximal, almost overwrought effect: Von Trier seems to be implying that it would be timid, cowardly even, to employ a less momentous score in the service of such fundamental consideration of the meaning of existence.

The cinematography (by Manuel Alberto Claro) is softer and less astringent than in recent Von Trier’s films. But that, together with a considerably less visceral assault on our sensibilities (though Justine does use her riding crop on a horse over-vigorously), in no way makes this one of the tamer entries in his remarkable filmography. Rather, it’s a bold and wholly powerful restatement of first principles.

You can check out the Melancholia trailer here!

They have rated this movie: * * * * *

Here’s another review, this time from Variety!

It’s the end of the world but also the start of something new for Lars von Trier, whose mind-blowing “Melancholia” offers perhaps the gentlest depiction of annihilation one could imagine from any director, much less the Danish provocateur. If “Antichrist” was the needle in the eye von Trier needed to shake a bout of pulverizing depression, then “Melancholia” serves as his unexpectedly lucid response, blending grand-scale Hollywood effects with intimate, femme-focused melodrama. Think “The Celebration” meets “Armageddon,” a marketable combination that brings spectacle to the arthouse, sure to inspire discussion and debate in ways no studio-made disaster movie possibly could.

For all the tyrannical disdain he’s shown other filmmakers over the years, von Trier once again demonstrates a mastery of classical technique, extracting incredibly strong performances from his cast while serving up a sturdy blend of fly-on-the-wall naturalism and jaw-dropping visual effects. Given the film’s high-concept premise, things could have been a lot different in the hands of another director, but with von Trier, it’s just as Justine tells her exasperated spouse at the end of their chapter together: “What did you expect?”

Straw Dogs Set Visit With Alex

Aside

Hey Eric & Sookie Lovers! :)

ComingSoon.net interviewed the cast and crew of Straw Dogs during the making of the movie!

Here is a portion of the interview…

Lastly, we had a chance to sit down with Alexander Skarsgard and his fellow Straw Dogs. Most of them had been relocated to Shreveport for a number of months and later that night, we’d go to dinner with the guys and get a sense of their individual personalities and how they’ve bonded as actors. Although Skarsgard has become well-known for his role on HBO’s “True Blood,” Rhys Coiro has also been seen a lot on that network, playing moody filmmaker Billy Walsh on “Entourage.”

ComingSoon.net: I don’t think any of you were alive when the first “Straw Dogs” came out so had any of you seen it before it came out? Did you know anything about it?
Alexander Skarsgard:
Yeah, I saw it 10 to 15 years ago, and I just remember the rape scene. I saw it again before I met with Rod.
Billy Lush: I saw it like when I was 21 at my friend’s place back when I was trying to soak in as much art and the classic movies as I could, and came across that, and was like, “What?” It was a little weird.
Rhys Coiro: I was about that age when I saw it, I was 22, and it definitely had a big effect on me, too.

CS: What’s it like now being a part of it and what are you changing for those who will be watching this movie for the first time?
Skarsgard:
Like I said, I rewatched it before the meeting but I haven’t seen it since. There’s no point in just remaking it. You have to make it your own and add something, and it is obviously a remake, but Rod rewrote the script. I think for us, the Straw Dogs, I actually think this is more interesting than in the first version. There’s more backstory now, the dynamics between Charlie’s character and Amy’s, the history there, he elaborated on that a bit more and worked that out a little more, and that game that we’re playing is quite different from the original one.
Lush: I think there’s more to do in terms of what the Straw Dogs are doing. Like in the original, Bic and Chris, Chris was just laughing like an idiot, and I don’t remember Bic, but we definitely have more to do in that. I think they always get portrayed as the bad guys, but in this, my perspective is that David is the bad guy. Not necessarily a bad guy but he’s an *sshole.
Skarsgard: Well, he is a bit of a jerk because it’s our territory. This is the way we live.

CS: How do you avoid doing stereotypes of the normal Southern hillbilly clichés?
Skarsgard:
We touched on that a little earlier. I don’t see us as bad guys. It is different. This is our territory and like Billy said, he’s a bit of a douchebag when he shows up, this Hollywood guy, he’s kind of condescending. He has his approach, and this is our home, this is our land, and he comes in driving his P-type Jag and giving us 100 bucks like we’re kids, that kind of the thing.

CS: How did you guys go about developing the Southern accents?
Lush:
To really get it, it took me like a week. There was just this one session where I instantly got it, but to build up to that took about a week.
Skarsgard: I was nervous about it because English isn’t even my first language, so I found out about this end of June, early July, and I said that I know you’ll have a dialogue coach on set, but I need to start this now, because I hadn’t even been to the South.
Lush: We did another television series together two years ago called “Generation Kill.” Remember that?
Skarsgard: That’s right. (laughter) On that, I had a bunch of British actors and a couple South African actors, and I’m from Sweden and a guy from Israel, so it’s about a platoon of Marines, so we had a dialect coach there that I liked a lot, he’s based in New York, so I flew out to July and spent a week with him working on it. He put stuff on tape so I had it on my iPod when I went to Sweden just listening to his voice and getting into it. I need to work on it. It’s easier for me to do it this way, because it’s a mess right now. I live in California but I’m working on this accent, I’m from Europe, so I don’t know what’s happening right now.
Drew Powell: I had a problem. When I got to Hollywood, I’m from Indiana, which doesn’t necessarily have an accent, but I got to Hollywood, and everybody thought I was from Texas or Tennessee. “Where’s that accent from?” “Indiana” “Oh.” I didn’t think I had one but apparently, I must have put it on when I got to Hollywood.
Coiro: It’s really just second nature from being around folks down here. I can’t imagine if we tried to shoot this somewhere else. If we were trying to do this in L.A., I think we would have been in danger, but because we’re down here, everybody…
Lush: You hear it day in and day out.
Skarsgard: Rhys is like a local anyway. He’s assimilated to this sick town more than any of us.

(The irony of the above question was that the journalist who asked it was actually from the Louisiana area and he had the perfect Southern accent for real, but it made transcribing fun because everyone else spoke in their regular accent.)

Rod Lurie’s Straw Dogs opens on September 16.

You Could Rent A Home Used On True Blood

Hey Eric & Sookie Lovers! :)

If you have the money – you could live in a home used on True Blood!

Which one is it? You may recognize it as the home used for Queen Sophie-Ann! ;)

What are they asking each month?

How about only $250,000!  YIKES!

If that one’s a little out of your price range…you could always live in Bubba’s house (Aka. Elvis Presley)!

Here’s the details of this one:

Rent: $25,000 a month
Address: 1174 N. Hillcrest Road, Beverly Hills, California
Square feet: 5,367

“The King” was just 32 when he paid $400,000 for this 9-year-old, four-bedroom, five-bath home. He, Priscilla and little Lisa Marie arrived in 1967. That year, Elvis recorded “Big Boss Man” and “Guitar Man.” He may have liked peanut butter and banana sandwiches, but he had taste when it came to real estate, at least in this home. The split-level mansion is French Regency style, with a signature mansard roof. When you rent the 5,367-square-foot home and 1.18-acre estate — for $25,000 a month — you’ll feast on views of the canyons and hills. And, you’ll have the swimming pool all to yourself.

When we found this, we thought you might find it interesting! ;)

Jesus Talks True Blood

Hey Eric & Sookie Lovers! :)

Here’s a little teaser spoiler from Kevin Alejandro (Jesus on True Blood)!

TVLINE | And now you’re part of a new family. What can you tease about True Blood’s return?
Alejandro: All I can tell you — because they’re really tight-lipped over there — is that Lafayette and Jesus are both there and you’ll see a lot of us. You will definitely get to know Jesus better — and he’s a pretty likable guy. There definitely will be more interaction between Jesus and other characters this season, too.
