The Fangreaders Awards Awards in Excellence
in the SVM/TB Fanfic Fandom
Since January 2011 the Fangreaders (http://fangreaders.blogspot.com/) have been chatting about and sharing their favourite SVM/TB fanfiction stories. What started with a few enthusiasts has grown into a community of over 200 fanfic readers and writers, stretching over several time-zones – and we just keep getting bigger and bigger! New members are signing up every week to take part in our online discussions in the Fangreaders chat room, the Fangreaders Chatroom Central blog site, Fang_Readers Community on LiveJournal, and the Caffe Trieste forum.
You may have heard of a previous Fangreader organised event – The Lemon Tart Awards. This event celebrated the sassy and sexy side of fanfiction. But this time we want to go all the way – Oscars Style! In celebration of 12 wonderful months of meeting new people and making new friends – the community is bringing you ‘The Fangreader Awards’. On January the 8th, Fangreaders submitted their nominations for their most loved fanfics in ten different categories. Comedy, Romance, All Human, Angst, One-shots, series and more will be included in this event to celebrate excellence in writing and honour those who have captivated us with their plots, amused us with their banter and made our hearts flutter with excitement when they provide us with an update.
Although the Fangreaders nominated the stories for these awards –
voting is open to the entire SVM/TB fandom.
That’s right – you don’t need to be a Fangreader for your voice to be heard!
The public vote opened on Sunday 15th January 2012 and the ballot will close on 19th February 2012 11.59pm GMT. That leaves you plenty of time to catch up and read any of the stories nominated that you might have missed. Remember – you can only vote ONCE – and the goal of the Fangies is to award excellence in writing and not just be another popularity contest.
An award ceremony will be held at 9pm GMT (4pm EST) on Saturday 25th February 2012 on http://fangreaders-hall-of-fame.blogspot.com/ and the best part is that the winners will be announced by your favourite SVM/TB characters!

Charlaine was interviewed by the Orlando Sentinel, in a pre-interview before her appearance at SleuthFest. The annual conference, sponsored by the Florida chapter of Mystery Writers of America, shifts to Central Florida this year. The conference runs Thursday-March 4 at the Royal Plaza Orlando at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista.
Charlaine Harris speaks at the March 3 luncheon, which starts at noon. A book signing follows. If you want to attend only the lunch and book signing, register at sleuthfest.com. The group allows walk-up registrations but encourages advance registrations.
Also March 3, Harris will speak at a 3:40 p.m. panel and discuss the Sookie Stackhouse series at 5 p.m. poolside. A Saturday full-day registration is required to attend these events. Send any questions to email@mwaflorida.org.

In the latest True Blood casting news…a ‘pivotal’ role has been cast in season 5!

For most True Blood and Sookie Stackhouse Novels fans our viking vampire, Eric Northman, seems to be the perfect male specimen who is fantastically good at everything he does. He’s tall, blonde, handsome, strong, witty, loyal, can keep a girl smiling all night long and could dispose of your enemies for you before you have time to even finish a sentence. However as Sookie discovered in Dead as a doornail Eric is not quite perfect ………
“Eric moved the broom experimentally and made an attempt to sweep the glass into the pan while it lay in the middle of the floor. Of course, the pan slid away. Eric scowled.
I’d finally found something Eric did poorly.”
Eric Northman, ridiculously gorgeous, slightly confused by a pan and broom!
So there you go, Eric would be completely rubbish at doing the housework for you. It’s a good bet that he’s not that great with a washing machine or tidying out the cupboard under the stairs either. (That actually reminds us of quite a few real men we know). We are sure Sookie doesn’t care, and neither would we, particularly with all his other talents!
Can anyone think of anything else that our viking vampire isn’t very good at, as quite honestly we are struggling with that one.

Anna Paquin was named Best Actress for the role in her movie, Margaret in the 2012 International Cinephile Society Awards!
The honors are announced by “an online group made up of approximately 80 accredited journalists, film scholars, historians and other industry professionals who cover film festivals and events on five continents.”
Fellow winners of these awards were; Asghar Farhadi‘s A Separation, Weekend‘s Tom Cullen, and The Tree of Life‘s Terrence Malick and Brad Pitt!
