Celebrating the SVM

May 7, 2013… a day that is being approached by many with excitement and sadness. For it is the day we will get our (copy of) Dead Ever After, the conclusion to the Sookie Stackhouse Novels by Charlaine Harris.

Her 12th installment Deadlocked lived up to its title leaving us …well… deadlocked along with the characters. We are all wondering what will happen with our favorites Eric and Sookie, and I am sure we all will be speculating over every morsel Charlaine shares with us via Facebook, her forum, and interview. All leading up to next year with the final book being released; it’s going to be a loooooong year.

During various interviews and book tour stops, Charlaine is met with cries when it is repeated that yes Dead Ever After is the last book in the series. Charlaine has playfully replied with a “Yay, I am getting another book”.

We here at Eric and Sookie Lovers have decided to take this up as a rallying cry and will be “Celebrating the SVM” during this next year to anticipate the release of Dead Ever After! We will be paying homage to the books that have brought us all together with various posts and activities and …*whispers* contests!

We welcome you to join us and say “Yay, we are getting another book” and “Celebrate the SVM”.

Would the Real Sookie Stackhouse please stand up?!

Eric:”I know you, there are two Sookie Stackhouses, one still clings to the idea that she’s merely human, and the other who’s coming to grips with the fact that you are better than that”.

Sookie: “And what do you think is gonna happen when I do come top grips with that? Do you think my legs are just going to magically open for you?”

Eric:” Well, that was saucy! It must have been fairy Sookie talking, I like when she comes out”

Sookie: “And I’m already sorry I said it”

Eric: “Don’t be. The more you let her speak for you, the more likely you are to go on living. And you want to live don’t you? Well then I hope to hear from you girls soon”

I beg to differ with you Eric but there are three Sookie Stackhouse’s. Yes, you heard me right, THREE! There are the two that Alan Ball made up in that crazy world of his that he likes to call True Blood and then there is Ms. Harris’s Sookie. Do you want to know which one I prefer? I will give you THREE guesses and the first TWO do not count!

Where True Blood is concerned, Sookie started out as a naive telepathic waitress but she also took care of herself pretty well. In short, she was no damsel in distress. Well, that went to hell in a hand-basket quick, fast and in a hurry. In some aspects, Eric was right in that letting Fairy Sookie speak for her was the right thing to do, thereby making sure she lives. Sookie goes back and forth so much between these two Sookie’s and so fast it will leave your head spinning, literally! Is it the blood of the vampire Bill who made her so dim-witted and a lesser version of her normal self or a product of bad writing and continuity? I am afraid we may never know.

What we do know is that these two ‘Sookie’s’ of Alan’s creation is enough to do a viewers head in. It is really hard to root for Sook when she is written as a plot device. The ‘microwave fingers of fail’ are not cutting it for me either, because they are only used when it is convenient for the plot. Case in point, she used it in Season 4 at the Moon Goddess Emporium to stop the spell that was making the Vamps do the Zombie dance toward the ‘power of the sun’ wall Marnie put up. Then she could not use it again when her life was in danger while she was trapped inside the ‘ring of fire’. Andy from Camp Blood made a wise statement when he did his ‘Whatever Sookie’ moment on their blog and I just wanted to share it with you here:

“Um, Sookie when you use your fairy powers to break a spell that Marnie is casting in the circle, GOOD, when you are trapped inside a ring of fire by a spell by the same witch, why don’t you just use your powers again? Like, you know your fairy powers break the enchantments, couldn’t you just like blast a little hole, or at the very least, stop, drop and roll!

I love that video and that part never fails to (1) crack me up and (2) further demonstrate that True Blood definitely ‘jumped the shark’ but I still find myself hoping that it can somehow be redeemed, especially where Sookie is concerned but I digress, and moving on!

All this equaled out to Sookie being nothing more than a plot device and it ticks me off to no end. They have so many places they could take True Blood Sookie and now they are nothing more than missed opportunities by the writers. I have nothing else to say on this subject.

Onward to my favorite Sookie, Book Sookie who is a breathe of fresh air to read and it is a real treat to get inside her head. Needless to say but I love Book Sook! The Sookie of yesterdays has been slowly evolving over time into a much more mature Sookie, and this has never been more evident than in Deadlocked. She knows what she wants and what has to be done to obtain everything she desires. I would not want to tangle with this Sookie at all, she might shoot me in the head with a shotgun! I guess in fairness TB Sook did the same thing but not in the same manner as Book Sook. This version of Sookie is pretty much more secure within herself but not quite confident of her appeal to others but is extremely independent and does not need a man to define her. I wish the TB’s Sook’s were a lot more like her.

So we want to hear your thoughts on the subject of the Sookie(s)! Sound off below!

5 Bad Things For Season 5

Season 5 will soon be upon us, there is now only 21 days to go. It’s time to start counting down to the True Blood premiere on June 10. But before we bring you all the good things that we hope. like us, you are looking forward to, we thought we’d get the not so good things out of the way first. We wouldn’t be the fanatical fans we are if there weren’t certain things that irritate us, agitate us, and in some cases have us pulling our hair out in large clammy clumps. So let’s get them all out in the open, and hopefully in 3 weeks time we’ll have got past them and be focused enough that they won’t spoil our enjoyment of our favorite show. Here’s our countdown of 5 Bad Things For Season 5.

5. Beehl

The character we all love to hate (and that’s completely okay as he’s fictional), so why is he only number 5?  Well, two reasons actually, firstly I wanted to get him done and out of the way before he contaminates our beautiful viking blog anymore than he has to (No number one spot here, another bottom of the pile is all he deserves), and secondly because after 9 months of extensive self-therapy, I am absolutely determined he is not going to ruin another season of True Blood for me. I am going to pretend he isn’t there. There’s not a lot to say about Mr Compton that hasn’t already been said, he struggles with his humanity, he steals story-lines, he shags anything that moves, he cock-blocks, he has miraculous powers for a vampire seemingly so young, and he looks silly and ridiculous every time he stands next to Eric. So I guess he’s going to look silly and ridiculous for most of this season then. Bill? Bill who? See it’s working already.

4. Unsteady Supports

True Blood has a fantastic array of supporting characters, and there’s a reason we call them that, they support the main characters in their story-lines. The likes of Arlene, Andy and Holly are perfectly brilliant as comic relief, but when the season is so damned short, at only 12 episodes, let’s not waste precious screen time on the likes of Andy’s V addiction please. This season it’s going to be Terry’s turn for promotion, and they’d better not f**K him up. So far he’s a complete darling, he puts up with Arlene, he’s got an armadillo and he’s never killed anything by accident. Next season expect the life and loves of  Jane Bodehouse to eat up valuable screen time.

3. Freakin’ Awful Fairies

Anyone who tuned in for last year’s season premiere, having never seen the show before, will quite rightly have thought WTF for pretty much the whole of the first 20 minutes. Let’s face it, fairies are very, very difficult to make look cool. In fact I can only think of one cool fairy that I have ever seen on screen, and that’s Tinkerbell from Peter Pan. True Blood really has it’s work cut out in tackling these particular supernatural creatures, but they are giving it another go this year, with the addition of Claudette and a new Claude. It looks like Jason may well be caught up in the fairy antics at the new night-club and let’s hope that he can at least inject a little bit of his Stackhouse magical charm  into their time on the show. As one of their unfortunate number has already mated with Andy Bellefleur , surely things can’t get any worse for the fae?

2. Pack Wars

Imagine this, sitting down with a glass of wine every Sunday night for 12 weeks and becoming completely absorbed in 55 minutes of full-on, smoking hot, bloody, vampire action. Well you can imagine it all you want as you’re never going to get it. For some weird reason the majority of supernatural writers out there seem to think that  dirty, furry, howling, aging, four-legged creatures are just as sexy as their immortal fanged counterparts. And basically they are just not. Every minute the weary weres are on our screens is quite frankly a minute wasted. I didn’t give a crap about the pack wars in Charlaine Harris’s books and I don’t think  I’m going to give a crap about them on the show either!

1. Sooicide

Is it coming or isn’t it? How far with the wolf will Sookie actually go? Is Alcide the True Blood Quinn? Can it actually be as completely horrific as we seem to imagine it’s going to be? All these questions will have an answer by mid-September, but in the meantime here are my multiple reasons why Sookie should not let Mr Weary into her fairy bed. These two characters have zero chemistry, she can read his mind, he’s an opinionated ass, he treated Debbie like crap, he’s not Eric, oh yeah, and she just blew his ex-girlfriend’s head off. As I’ve said many times before and will no doubt say many times again – don’t do it Sookie!

So there you go – that’s 5 not so hot things for season 5. Have I missed anything that is going to have you turning away from your television screen in dismay? Let us know what you are not so secretly dreading.

Alex & the Fang Gang Filming in New Orleans

**********Warning : Season 5 spoilers ahead***********

I have to admit my fan-girl heart is having one hell of a week. Having just recovered from the latest Season 5 promo, I wake up on a rainy Saturday morning to discover not only the long overdue return of the black tank of doom, but that my favorite TV Show is filming in the Vampire Capitol of America, the City of the Dead, New Orleans.

The True Blood vampires were out in force last night for filming which must by now surely be from the climax to the new season. Along side the magnificent specimen that is Eric Northman, the lucky residents (and tourists) of New Orleans were treated to Russell (Denis O’Hare), Steve (Michael McMillian), Bill (Stephen Moyer). Nora (Lucy Griffiths), and authority members Carloyn Hennesy and Peter Mensah. It looks like a lot of fun was had by all, including Alex giving one of his co-stars a piggy back ride down the road. They filmed footage on the famous Bourbon Street surrounded by a huge crowd of onlookers (who luckily for us have been tweeting their photos across the net all night long). There was also a scene revolving around a city taxi cab that Eric and Bill seem to be trying to either get into or stop from leaving. I still can’t decide what I’m most excited about, the filming location or the return of the black tank of doom. Eric looked absolutely smokin’ hot, and even when he covered up with a black leather jacket, he must have burnt a hot hole in the Louisiana pavement. And the viking fangs made an appearance too. (seriously what more could a girl ask for to start her weekend?)

Meeting the Maker

When the Book Tour dates for Deadlocked were announced back in March, I started comparing which dates and locations would be the best for me to attend. I ended up deciding to go to the Charlotte and Winston- Salem events, this way I could make it a mini road trip. Quite a few folks asked me “Really? You are going to 2 events? Why?” My response was “Why not. I love Charlaine and you tend to learn different things from each Q&A session.”

Charlotte

I won’t bore you with the details on the drive up, but needless to say my day started very early on Sunday May 6th to make sure I arrived at the Arboretum Barnes and Noble in Charlotte to get my signing line ticket and ensure I get a good spot for the Q&A. I would say front row was a good spot :) . There were several of us “camped out” around 12:30 with the event starting around 3pm. It was a blast connecting with fellow fans and talking about the books, what we thought of Deadlocked, Eric, what might happen in Dead Ever After and Eric, True Blood and the Eric storyline, Alex and his projects, other books… did I mention we talked about Eric? :)

While we were talking and stalking our watches for 3 pm, the area filled up with other patrons and became standing room only. It was a glorious site… and sound as the cheers and clapping grew when Charlaine made her way to the front for the Q&A session. She was gracious and entertaining as she repeated our questions through her mic so those in the back could hear before answering it… if she could. There were some questions that were asked that might have been spoilery for Dead Ever After. My own question asking the name of Eric’s other child (confirmed to appear in DEA during a previous Q&A) got a I can’t answer now “but you know Eric.. he does like them blonde”. She also confirmed that there will be a new Sookie story in an anthology coming out in August that will have Hunter in it. Of course when it was repeated that Dead Ever After was the last book, we all made a sad sound until Charlaine playfully redirected us by mimicking us and saying “Yay, we are getting another book”.

Surprisingly, there were not a lot of Deadlocked questions but we covered a range of topics between her writing style, her other series, Harper Connelly being turned into a show on SyFy. She lit up like a Christmas tree when discussing her newest series “Midnight Pawn”, that there will be several characters from her other stories making appearances. You can tell she can’t wait to sink her teeth into it.

I loved it when she was describing her path to becoming a writer. Like when she was working for minimum wage (way back when), she thought of writing as her “secret identity”. It drew laughs from us. Charlaine mainly writes what entertains herself, and tries to write 7 pages a day. She has admitted to writing herself in a few corners a few times and was able to turn most of it around. She also apologized for killing Claudine, it was an accidental killing spree and she regrets the loss of Claudine. Her content editor is in charge on making sure there is character continuity through out her books. She hired her directly for the soul fact that she would be dedicated to her works and not need to split time with other authors.

You can totally tell that she loves all her characters and would love to write another Aurora book… if the right story came to her. Sookie’s evolution from Dead until Dark through Deadlocked and her inner strength is a source of pride. The Q&A took a turn for the serious when Charlaine continued that she would never write another Lilly Bard story, since she went to a dark place to write these stories and will not go back to that world.

“As a survivor of rape, I choose to live in the here and now and not dwell in the past” ~  Charlaine Harris (paraphrased)

Applause broke out in tribute to her strength.

We also had a serious moment when one audience members asked Charlaine if there was a review or critique that made an impression on her. She responded that “any writer” should not pay attention to the reviews left at Amazon as people can be pretty hateful when they can be anonymous.

There were several TB related questions that came up. The one asking who does she think will be playing Quinn on the show made me cringe since it was a book event. Charlaine took it in stride and said she wasn’t sure if he would even be on the show. Another question inquired how she felt about all the changes they have made from her story. In her fashion she jokingly replied that she cried… all the way to the bank. It was all said in good humor. We also got a few more stock answers when asked about True Blood and the actors and how she was not part of the show creative team and which actor best fit her vision of the character (Chris Bauer as Andy, though Joe M is trying his best by working out as often as he does).

The Q&A over all was very enjoyable and lots of good information shared and the excitement rose as we got ready for the signing line. The staff at the abortorium was very organized and after about a hundred some people… I met the Maker :) It was truly an honor to meet her and thanked her for the Sookie books for with out them I would not have met some of my closest friends through the internet book club and the fandom. She was delighted to hear about that. I also thanked her on behalf of the staff here at E&SL and she laughed and replied “No pressure there!”

After my turn at the signing table, I stayed in the store so I could go through the line a second time to get an extra book signed… and found out a few other fans who would be attending the Winston Salem event the next night as well. At my second trip to the desk I joked with Charlaine that I was a part of the see-you-tomorrow crowd. She joked back with that  I was a glutton for punishment :)

And with that, my time in Charlotte wound down as I jumped into my car and made my way 90 miles to Winston-Salem.

Winston-Salem:

My next night found my friend Kat and I at the Salem College for a “Conversation with Charlaine”, an event hosted by Bookmarks (click here for more details). This was a ticketed event, and we had bought the VIP package which included a “Wine and Hors D’oeurves” reception with Charlaine, a gift bag, and a copy of Deadlocked followed by the interview and Q&A. We made sure we arrived with plenty of time to spare so we could figure out the lay of the land. I admit I was extremely entertained when I realized the Salem Fine Arts Center was right beside a grave yard.

After a quick stop in the lobby where I continued my quest to upgrade my paper back copies of SSN into hardback, we made our way to the reception. Along the way, we saw Charlaine get an overview of that evenings stage set up. We waved in greeting and she returned with a quick smile. We continued on our way to the reception site and partook of the goodies there (the food and wine was very yummy) with the waiting crowd. When Charlaine was able to join us, part 1 of her signing session began. Normally during at a signing you stay on one side of the table while the author is on the other and you lean in for pictures. At this reception, we were allowed along side Charlaine while she was signing (and for a quick chat) and we could lean in for a picture with her. When it was my turn to approach the desk, I asked her if she  was feeling better (toward the end of the B&N event she was tired) she had a small laugh before turning to the woman holding my camera to tell her that i had been at the event in Charlotte the day before as well. I admit, I had a fangirl moment. I told her she was completely worth it and again thanked her for Sookie as they led me to friends like Kat. We took our pictures and we let Charlaine meet with the next fan in line.

After a bit, we made our way back to the auditorium to make sure we got good seats. First row again. There was time before the 7pm start and we met and took some pics with Stephanie of PaperDollsBlog and of the slide presentation showcasing testimonials about Charlaine’s work among other items .

Now, one would think sitting in the front row would give me great pictures, but with the ban or flashes and use of electrical devises and someone next to you stage whispering that we were told to turn electronics off. I didn’t want to chance being kicked out after my neighbor to the left, especially when i know I would be able to grab photo’s from someone who was able to take them.. ahem :)

Charlaine and the moderator (Dale Pollock) were introduced and took their seats to a warm welcome of applause and the moderator got down to business. Fans had the opportunity to submit questions online before the event, and it is with these questions the moderator started the interview. Of course most of these questions were about True Blood and Charlaine shared that she had been approached by a few others besides Alan Ball, but that Alan’s proposal was the most intriguing creatively not to mention financially. She knew early on that there would be divergence from her single POV story to adapt to a multi POV for TV. She also reiterated that the books and show need to be taken as different entities, especially since the story is so different from her stories. Through out the discussion Game of Thrones came up and how George RR Martin has some creative input into the show and how he had a different agreement with the producers and HBO. Charlaine shared that she watches True Blood (gets the pre-screener copies) and enjoys it because of all the differences its a whole new world for her too. The moderator, referencing that the show is different, jokes that she should be considered the number 1 fan. When asked if the show has influenced her vision of the book series, Charlaine had a cute answer that her story is how she planned it and there was no intentional inspiration. With a dash of humor, Charlaine mentions that she speaks with humor 80% of the time because there has been times when she was quoted online and people run with it as gospel when she was speaking with humor. Like what she “said” about not being invited to Anna and Stephen’s wedding and only sending a toaster. The conversation was tied back to the books with a lot of the similar questions and answers I had heard yesterday concerning Claudine, a new short story with Hunter. And the cry from the audience that we only have 1 more book, to which Charlaine again lead us with the “Yay, I am getting another book.” She does know how to turn our frown upside down :)

One of my favorite questions submitted was wondering where all of the Southern Sayings that Sookie quotes (remembers) her Gran came from, Charlaine revealed that these saying were gems from her MOTHER and grandmother. That these sayings gave her female characters a sense of strength and familiarity. Charlaine then quoted her mother as saying “Men are ok, but a woman will always get the job done.” I couldn’t help but smile. And while most of her characters are not inspired by anyone in particular, some characters you can’t help but be inspired by someone or a historical figure. Like Eric, Charlaine had researched a certain Viking name Vladimir who had strong qualities, a nice build, and “someone who could swing a sword.”

It was a definite joy to see her light up again while they discussed her new 3 book series Midnight Pawn. After an audience question if Quinn would be in Dead Ever After, Charlaine shares that he would not be in DEA but look for him to appear in Midnight Pawn.

There were a few other questions surrounding the Harper Connelly series becoming a show on SiFi, the graphic novel and her work schedule before questions were opened up to the audience. Sadly, I wasn’t selected to ask another question. Though the last question asked and its response has struck a chord with me… and could possibly be spoilerish.

The question was “With Eric leaving, will Pam go with him?” Charlaine response was “It’s a bit presumptuous that he is leaving.” “Pam will be happy.” And with that the Q&A concluded and my brain when to speculation island!

In Conclusion:

I loved every minute of this trip. There were so many items we can use to speculate what might happen in Dead Ever After that we should make it through the next 360 some days till we have it in our hands. For Charlaine is correct.. this is not a sad moment… we should celebrate because we are “Yay, we are getting another book!”

Here are some pictures from each event.

True Blood’s New Head Honcho

Tonight’s (Day 12) fangalicious Fang-A-Thon 2012 post is brought to you by some very interesting and surprising news that has just been released!

HBO has named Alan Ball’s successor for season 6 – IF (that’s a pretty big if, IMO) it’s renewed for a sixth season. The bad news? It’s not me. Yeah, I know that is somewhat disappointing for you. Haha. The good news? (Depending on how you look at it.) Is the fact it’s none other than Mark Hudis!

This is what Deadline.com is reporting.

EXCLUSIVE: True Blood co-executive producer Mark Hudis will take the reins of the hit HBO vampire drama if it gets renewed for a sixth season. With True Blood creator/executive producer Alan Ball stepping down as showrunner at the end of the upcoming fifth season, Hudis would be upped to executive producer/showrunner for Season 6 as part of an overall deal he has signed with HBO. The two-year pact also includes a development component.

Hudis has been on True Blood for the past two seasons — last year’s Season 4 and Season 5, which premieres June 10. While his and Ball’s paths previously crossed on the CBS comedy series Cybill, where they co-wrote several episodes during the 1997-98 season, the two first met two decades ago working at trade publication AdWeek. UTA-repped Hudis’ series credits also include Fox’s That ’70s Show and Showtime’s Nurse Jackie. While leaving True Blood full-time after Season 5, Ball is staying in business with HBO through his overall deal there. He will continue to be involved in True Blood and also executive produces new series Banshee for HBO sibling Cinemax.

Speculation is already going around that HBO is preparing themselves in case True Blood isn’t renewed. They won’t lose anything if that happens. Will this be a good thing for us? I’m not sure. Depending on how this season ends, it could mean things are still up in the air for our couple, just like they were in Deadlocked.

I guess only time will tell. Who knows? I just hope that if it’s renewed…Mark Hudis won’t disappoint us like Alan Ball did.

One other thing which came to mind when I read it was this…why is HBO handing over the reigns to someone who has only been on the show since the beginning of season 4? Why not one of the other producers? Someone else who have been there for a longer period of time?

What are your thoughts? Share ‘em below!

Do You Bleed the Fifth?

I have not really been a big fan of the True Blood Marketing program as of late so you will find it hard pressed to impress me with one of their marketing posters. Surprise! This is one I find halfway decent and quite catchy, even though I am still waiting for them to rock my world. If you try to tell anyone I said that I will just simply:

Did you think that was all I had for you? Well, you thought wrong….HA! HBO has released the first three episode synopsis and I am willing to share them with you all. Now, if you don’t want to be spoiled, then I suggest you turn away now because I am going to post them!

SUNDAY, JUNE 10 “Turn! Turn! Turn!”
Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis) struggle with the aftermath of Tara’s (Rutina Wesley) shooting, while also cleaning up after Debbie Pelt. Meanwhile, Bill (Stephen Moyer) and Eric (Alexander Skarsgård), cleaning up a mess of their own, are visited by the Vampire Authority, one of whom is Nora (Lucy Griffiths), a woman from Eric’s past. In search of the missing Marcus, Alcide’s (Joe Manganiello) werewolf pack comes after Sam (Sam Trammell). With Bill away, Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) enjoys her new freedom by partying with local college kids; Jason (Ryan Kwanten) is visited by the recently turned Rev. Steve Newlin (Michael McMillian); Terry’s (Todd Lowe) PTSD is reignited by Patrick Devins (Scott Foley), an old Iraq War buddy; and Alcide turns up at Sookie’s to warn her about the recently resurfaced Russell Edgington (Denis O’Hare).

While Dad’s away, the kid must play! Since one of my fellow bloggers are going to write a review on this episode and I will need to see it first to offer my opinion. I could base my opinion on the three synopsis alone but I will refrain!

SUNDAY, JUNE 17 “Authority Always Wins”
At the Vampire Authority headquarters in New Orleans, Bill and Eric meet Salome (Valentina Cervi) and become acquainted with the Authority’s interrogation techniques. Pam (Kristin Bauer van Straten) recalls her human life as the madam of the Comstock Brothel in San Francisco, and her first encounter with Eric. Werewolves J.D. (Louis Herthum) and Rikki (Kelly Overton) pay tribute to Marcus, but Alcide refuses to participate or take his rightful place as the new packmaster. Martha Bozeman (Dale Dickey) shows up wanting to see her granddaughter, causing conflict for Sam and Luna (Janina Gavankar). Fearing Russell’s return, Sookie procures a home-protection system; Arlene (Carrie Preston) tries to get to the bottom of Terry’s erratic behavior; Steve Newlin stops by with an offer for Jessica; and Jason feels the brunt of his womanizing ways.

Steve Newlin’s a womanizer? Who would have thunk it? I wonder what that offer is? I got my suspicions but once again I will refrain right now from speaking out!

SUNDAY, JUNE 24 “Whatever I Am, You Made Me”
Bill and Eric barter for their lives with the Authority Chancellors and their leader, Roman (Christopher Meloni). Salome and Roman enlist a new ally in the face of Russell’s return. Sookie goes to Fangtasia to ask for help from Pam, who is still caught up in her memories of Eric and the strange murders at the Comstock Brothel. Andy’s dalliance with Holly (Lauren Bowles) comes back to bite him in the butt; later, he’s visited by Gordon (Steve Rankin) and Barbara Pelt (Linda Purl), who are searching for Debbie. Jason bumps into an old high school teacher, but their reunion brings up conflicting feelings.

Jason, having conflicted feelings? SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! Sookie asks Pam for help, that should go over real well! *rolls eyes*

What do you think of the poster and the three synopsis? Don’t worry you can BLEED THE FIFTH, otherwise sound off below.

Ask Sookie: Dying to Know

You may remember we have a new site feature where you can Ask Sookie (me) any questions you might have regarding True Blood, the Southern Vampire Mysteries or questions about your own personal lives. Well, guess what? The response I received was a very pleasant surprise! I received SO many questions…I couldn’t believe it, y’all! Thank you so much for sending in your questions!

It’s because I received so many questions, I will have to split this up into numerous parts! This first email alone had 5 questions! I’m going to share with y’all the answers to these 5 questions in this post. As for the other questions and answers, I will post them as soon as I get the chance! I do have to work my scheduled shifts, so I can pay my bills. If you sent me any questions…don’t worry, I will answer them soon. You’ll just have to be patient, okay?

Below, are the questions from the first email. My answers are written below.

Dear Sookie,

1.) Will you ends up w/ Eric at the end of True Blood season 5?

2.) Is there going be a baby involve in this season’s plot, because Anna’s pregnent?

3.) Are True Blood  referring “the new breed of vampires” are dragons?

4.) Is season 6 going to be the final season for tb?

Dying to know

Dying to know,

Unfortunately, you’ve asked several questions that I truly have no answers for. I’m a telepathic and not psychic, after all.

Trust me, I’ve attempted to listen in to the folks over at HBO. I was more than surprised to find that like Google, FOX News and several top corporations, HBO is ran by vampires. Known for his secrecy and his ability to keep his cast from spilling show secrets, you can bet Alan Ball has had most of those secrets glamoured out of anyone who might spill the beans.

Here’s what I can tell you. It is promised that I will be single for some period of time during this next season. A fact that I have no qualms with. Life has become too complicated since Bill walked into Merlotte’s that first night we met and honestly, my heart could use a little R&R.

As I have only ever been intimate with vampires and they are not capable of reproducing, I will not be in any fear of finding out I’m pregnant. Though I eventually would like to marry, settle down and have a family of my own, right now is surely not the best time. With all the supernatural mayhem that seems to be spiraling wildly out of control around me, this is no place for a baby.

As for for the lovely Anna Paquin and her husband, I truly am excited for the expected bundle of joy. I wish them the best of luck with their newest teacup, who is expected due date is sometime next fall.

Dragons, like unicorns, are mythological creatures who were named after early man discovered the large fossilized bones of dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures. Though, I believed the same was true about Maenads and by the mess she left in my home, MaryAnn certainly seemed real enough.

I believe the “new vampires” or vampyr, as TrueBloodHBO has been calling them is in reference to those involved in the Authority.

I assume HBO will announce if and when True Blood gets renewed for another season. Unfortunately, this information falls into the facts I am not privileged to. As with all things True Blood related, waiting sucks and in this case, it’s no different.

Penalty Box: Alan Ball Gets It

For tonight’s fangalicious Fang-A-Thon 2012 post, I was inspired to write about something that has been on my mind ever since I read it earlier today.  What I read was an article in the Summer Preview issue of TV Guide magazine. If you haven’t read it yet (and would like to be spoiled in a MAJOR way), I highly suggest you do BEFORE you read any further. If you don’t want to be spoiled…sorry, this post WILL spoil some things for you, so you might not want to read this post.

As the title of this post mentions, it’s Alan Ball’s turn to sit in the Penalty Box. I think it’s only fair. He has screwed us around long enough. As it is in hockey; punishment is handed out to those who break the rules and/or has been found to be guilty of crimes they shouldn’t commit. I’ll be playing the role of referee or judge, jury and executioner.

FIRST PERIOD:

Alan Ball gets it for saying this below;

“This season we wanted to stay away from “Who will Sookie choose?” ~Alan Ball, TV Guide Summer Preview Issue

Oh REALLY? I found this comment to be extremely funny, actually. If there was ever a person who has played the “team” thing more than any other, I can’t think of anybody. Alan Ball is the leader of playing “teams”. Oh right…he expects us to move on, just like Sookie, towards Alcide. *rolls eyes* Sure, he says there won’t be a “team” thing now…but you know that his words mean nothing. He has lied before – who says he isn’t lying now?

This calls for a 5 minute major for fighting. No, he’s not fighting with the fans himself…but it’s because of HIM, True Blood fans fight with each other. He’s the instigator so he gets another 2 minutes.

SECOND PERIOD:

Alan Ball gets it for saying this below;

Eric’s sister – they had the same maker, Godric, who met the true death – arrives to help her bro. Expect serious sibling…friction. “They don’t have the same boundaries that we do in human family arrangements,” Ball says with a laugh.

You remember that kiss in the first full season 5 teaser, where Eric is seen kissing another woman? I guess that is his “sister” Nora. While I do think Eric is the type of character who would typically move on from being dumped by Sookie, by switching back to the man he was before he met her – it still doesn’t make this nausea go away. I don’t want to see Eric move on from Sookie. For that matter, I don’t want to see Sookie move on with anyone else either.  The fact Alan Ball LAUGHS about boundaries not being a matter in this, makes me want to shove my fist in his f*ckin’ face. Since he’s not here…I guess I’ll have to do the next best thing.

This calls for another 2 minutes for hooking. Hooking up two characters who don’t belong together and for making all of us here at Eric and Sookie lovers sick to our stomachs. I think he should also pay for all the booze we’ll have to drink during season 5 in order to get through all of this crap. Does he think we’ll find this interesting? Oh wait…he probably doesn’t even care what we think. *slaps head*

THIRD PERIOD:

Alan Ball gets it for…well, he never really said anything, but I definitely feel he deserves something for destroying the character of our beloved Sookie and for being a woman-hater.

Sookie on the show is NOTHING like her book counterpart. I won’t get into this here, because Nymerias pretty much covered all of it in her post here. As you know, Alan Ball has destroyed EVERY SINGLE FEMALE CHARACTER on the show. Tara, many of us hate her because she whines all the time.  Jessica, okay, she’s not bad…yet, but to sleep with Jason put her on the same derailing track as the others. Pam, is another character Alan Ball has completely changed from her book counterpart. We still love her, but we hate how Alan Ball has turned her into someone who hates Sookie and broke up her close relationship with Eric. I will say this though…none of these women portray characters we (as fans) can relate to. It only proves my theory that Alan Ball hates women, or doesn’t understand them. I wish the female writers on his staff would stand up to him and tell him; ‘no, this is NOT how women are’.

This calls for a 10 minute game misconduct, and a four game suspension. And for added punishment…just because I’m a woman, and because I’m a b*tch…a slap shot to his ballsack. Shame on you, Alan Ball! I wonder if your mother knows how much you hate women? Shame on you for turning Sookie into a woman who resembles a wife who has been physically abused by her husband over the years. I hope Alan Ball’s husband-wife doesn’t let him call the shots in their relationship. Shame, shame, shame…

GAME OVER.

That’s the buzzer to end this edition of the Penalty Box!  Rest assured, Alan Ball will be in here (image below) for the foreseeable future!

Any more penalties you want to add to this? Feel free to agree or add some more on in the comments below!

Dudes Love True Blood Too!

I am going to play pimp for the day and give a shout-out to a fellow True Blood fan and his blog! I took the time to read a few of his posts and the man has talent and made some very good points! I will give you a little sample of one of his Fangathon posts that I am sure you will enjoy!

Again, book Calvin was noble, wise, considered in his actions, yet stuck in a remote village. This remote village was populated by were-panthers who were odd, yes, but NOTHING like depicted in True Blood. They have cute , well maintained houses clustered around a cross roads. Now, enter Alan Ball…

Calvin Norris on True Blood is a snarling, in-bred, meth manufacturer/dealer and governed by rage. His underlings are visceral and primal. Hot Shot is an abandoned barn/garage with a cluster of ramshackle buildings. It’s a wonder Crystal Norris has a full set of teeth. They arrange a graphic and prolonged gang rape of Jason and develop a V trade to supplement their income. Hot Shot on TB has no redeeming values and is a complete plague on Renard Parrish.

Spot on dude, that was one of my major problems with the treatment of Hot Shot and Calvin, I felt like I had taken a gut shot, literally! I think we all should subscribe to this blog to see what other goodies can be found throughout season 5 of True Blood as well as support a fellow blogger! To read more from this blog just follow the yellow brick road or ummmm just click here instead:Upstatetraildude’sBlog

Let us know what you think by sounding off below and don’t forget to visit the blog. You really don’t me to start handing out penalties, do you? We are known for that here! Just teasing but seriously check it out because this Pimping, easy it is not! ;) Thank you Master Yoda! Thanks to Serena from Sookieverse and Kissed By Fire.

Caption This for 5/21

This past weekend the French Quarter was rockin (and so was the internet) when the Vampires of True Blood took to the streets.

In case you missed it, THEY WERE FILMING IN THE FRENCH QUARTER THE OTHER NIGHT! More importantly, ERIC NORTHMAN (Alexander Skarsgård) was in the Quarter…. along with some of the other vampires.

I am still giddy from all those lovely pics that were shared by those lucky folks who were just mere feet from the action.

In fact, one of those pictures is the inspiration for this edition of Caption This.

Found in the facebook album on ENLU,was this lovely crowd shot.

Thanks to a visitor at Eric Northman Fans, we know what Alex was saying to the crowd (about taking all the pictures the crowd wanted, except while they were filming) … but what do you wish he really said?

True Blood Season 5: “Don’t Cry, It’s Back” Promo

True Blood HBO shared a promo which will bring tears to  your eyes…I mean, literally. If you’ve ever wondered how often people cry on this show…this pretty much recaps all of the tear-jerking seasons!  Unfortunately, there’s no new scenes in this promo, it’s just a recap of past seasons which will make you cry with relief that True Blood is only 20 days away!

If waiting for season 5 brings tears to your eyes…you better watch this below!

I guess we’re not the only one who are driven to tears! LOL While it’s nice to go back and reminisce…after watching this, I suddenly realized…they cry an awful lot on True Blood!  We might be crying even more this season though…but we’ll have to wait and see.

What are your thoughts? Feel free to share them below!

True Blood Season 5: Eric Northman Billboards

For today’s fangalicious Fang-A-Thon 2012 post, I wanted to share with you some True Blood Season 5 billboards featuring Eric Northman!

These are starting to pop up all over the place! We thought you might like to see them!

This billboard (below) is located at Times Square in NYC!

Here’s a billboard where you can sit on Eric’s face! Well…maybe after a little bit of awkward maneuvering…and you would need to be very flexible!

This was taken at a bus stop in Los Angeles!

I think I might have to start taking the bus…because gas is SO expensive nowadays. ;)   But how would I sit on there comfortably…? Hmmm… Sorry, those nasty skarsgasms are starting again, I’m beginning to go off topic!

What do you think? Share your thoughts below!

PS. If any of you see any billboard signs in the area where you live, please feel free to contact us by using the link at the top of the page! Thanks!

Quopic of the Day – May 19th

For my next fangalicious Fang-A-Thon 2012 post…we’re going to switch back to the books!

Do you remember reading a part in “Deadlocked”, where Sookie said something which sounded eerily familiar? I definitely had the case of deja vu while reading it. Let’s see if you remember it too.

This is what Sookie said when Eric and she were discussing Eric’s situation with Freyda.

“Then we’ll leave,” I said quietly. “We’ll go somewhere else. You’ll work for some other king or queen. I’ll find a job.”

You’re probably wondering why this sounds vaguely familiar? Think back to “Dead To The World”…Eric and Sookie were trying to figure out a way to be together and to not fight in the Witch War. Eric said this passage below;

“We could go back,” he said. In the dome light of the car, his face looked hard as stone. “We could go back to your house. I can stay with you always. We can know each other’s bodies in every way, night after night. I could love you.” His nostrils flared, and he looked suddenly proud. “I could work. You would not be poor. I would help you.”

Do these sound eerily familiar? I found it interesting that it was Eric who said something like this first, then later on in the series, it’s Sookie. It’s like a role-reversal in a way. It’s almost as if they’ve come full circle. Both of them are suggesting something that may or not be practical, and they are wanting to run away from their troubles so that they only have to deal with themselves and their relationship. It certainly sounds like both of them want their lives to be simpler than they really are.

I hope that by the end of the series, Eric and Sookie can somehow work out a plan where they both get want they want and each other.

What are your thoughts? Share them below!

Anna in Fashion Magazine

Anna Paquin is on the cover of the May issue of Fashion Magazine, and there is also a little interview with her on their web-site, where she talks briefly about playing Sookie Stackhouse, and how the character is trying to figure out life on her own terms.

“This is going to be an interesting dance,” she says with a laugh, referring to HBO’s strict no-spoiler policy for True Blood’s much-anticipated fifth-season premiere on June 10. “Plot twists are everything in this show. Everything.”

Paquin’s role in True Blood is, literally, the stuff of legends. As the centrepiece of the series, she plays Sookie Stackhouse, a telepathic waitress with a penchant for short shorts, Sun In and the affections of fanged men. Dodging three searing-hot love interests at once—1,000-year-old Nordic vampire Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård), former Civil War soldier /modern Dracula type Bill Compton (played by Stephen Moyer, Paquin’s husband) and virile, hulking werewolf Alcide Herveaux (Joe Manganiello)—Paquin has her work cut out for her.

“At the end of last season, Sookie told all those dudes to back off because she needed to be by herself,” Paquin says. “She’s trying very hard to stay true to that goal of independence, of not being his or his or his…and she’s trying to figure out her own life on her own terms without anyone there to catch her every time she falls. Things will be especially complicated with her and Alcide, since Sookie just shot the head off the former love of his life!”

You can read the entire interview at Fashion here

Let’s hope Sookie decides any kind of romance with Alcide is far too complicated and completely undesirable, and begins her journey back to our favorite viking!

Quopic of the Day – May 18th

I’m cutting it close in today’s tonight’s fangalicious Fang-A-Thon 2012 post! We’ll make this short and sweet!

This is going to be a Quopic of the Day based on True Blood! Now, I know a lot of you are down on the show right now…and I don’t blame you, but I would like to remember some of the great times we had! Let’s focus on the positive, okay?

I chose this scene, because it really was quite humorous. It was inspired by the Favorite Blood Moments poll on Facebook. So, let’s think back and remember how Eric tricked Sookie into drinking his blood when she sucked out the bullets. By the way, I think the poll is now closed. Hopefully Russell’s ripping the spine out of the newscaster won.

Check it out below!

You may remember in season 2, Eric “tricked” Sookie into sucking two bullets out of his chest, after he had saved her life in the house bomb blast, while Bill was out with Lorena.

Sookie: I sucked the silver out of Eric’s chest to save his life, even though I REALLY didn’t want to.

Eric: She was superb.

Bill: Eric was in no danger.

Sookie: He…what?

Eric: I tiny falsehood.

Bill: He was already healing. The bullets would’ve pushed themselves out. This way he’s forced you to drink his blood.

Sookie: No…no…NO!

Bill: He will be able to sense your emotions.

Sookie: You big lying a-hole!

Eric: Bill, I believe you’re right. I believe I can sense her emotions.

~True Blood: Season 2, Episode 9

LMAO! Even though Bill was in this scene…it was all about Eric and Sookie. Sookie, angered by how Eric had tricked her into sucking out the bullets, and drinking his blood. Eric was laying there, enjoying the show. I still enjoy this scene, just because of how Eric behaved. He was naughty and cocky. He was manipulative and used Sookie’s ignorance against her. Since this was one of our favorite book scenes, it was interesting to see Alan Ball’s take. Unfortunately for us, it didn’t end with a kiss like it does in the books. Oh well…it was still a great scene, IMO.

Caption This for 5/18

Today’s Caption this was ordered off the True Blood Season 4 menu for Meorltte’s!

We know their menu tends to offer typical bar food with the occasional special item.

Like Terry’s Scramble, a Lafayette Burger… a Sookie Sandwich?

What is a Sookie sandwich you ask. It’s a Sookie surrounded very tightly by a Terry and Arlene with a dash of Lafayette sass on the side and voila… a Sookie Sandwich.

Though I’m sure a certain Viking Vampire would just prefer the filling

:)

But to follow my sandwich theme, my caption is “Would you like fries with that?”

How would you Caption This?

True Blood “Gimme Five” Poster

Earlier today, True Blood’s Facebook page shared a new set of images they are calling, “Gimme Five”! They are the latest in their lackluster efforts advertising campaign to get us to tune into Season 5.

Check out the promo poster below!

They also have profile pics, wallpapers and a new cover photo, in what they like to call, ‘shareables’. Check out all of the pics here:  True Blood “Gimme Five” Shareables

Ha-ha, get it? The hand has 5 fingers because it’s Season 5?  It’s covered in blood because vampires drink blood? They are SO clever…

Well, we found someone else who was clever too. We’re not sure who made it, but when we saw it we laughed! (Come on…don’t tell me you didn’t think of something like this too!)

It’s amazing what a little bit of photoshop can do! LMAO

In other (somewhat related) news…Godric’s death won as the Favorite Moment in True Blood’s poll for Favorite TB Moments – Death!

Guess what you received if you checked into True Blood on GetGlue tonight?!

Godric’s death was one of the most brilliantly written scenes ever shown on True Blood. I think this moment really opened up Sookie’s eyes to see the softer, kinder, gentler side of Eric. It was probably the moment when she started to fall in love with him too.

In their Favorite TB Moments poll for this week, they want you to choose your Favorite Blood Moment!  Now, we’re warning you now…Bill draining Sookie in the truck in Season 3 is winning this poll. We are shocked and appalled that True Blood would pick THAT moment as a fan favorite.

To prove to them how offended we are by this; we’re asking you to vote for ANY of the other choices BUT that one! Russell ripping out the newscaster’s spine on live TV is in second place, so it has the best chance of beating B/S as it stands right now.  Feel free to cast your vote here!

What do you think about the poster and the favorite moment poll? Share your thoughts below!

SPOILER ALERT: What’s In A Name?

For today’s (Day 7) fangalicious Fang-A-Thon 2012 post…we’re focusing once more on the Southern Vampire Mysteries. This won’t be a Quopic of the Day, like I previously planned because…guess what? Charlaine Harris has revealed something you will find very interesting in regards to her last and final Sookie book, Dead Ever After!

This is what I would definitely call a MAJOR spoiler.

WARNING: If you don’t want to know – don’t read below!
