Actor Spotlight On Alexander Skarsgård

Alexander Skarsgård is featured in an actor spotlight video with Reelz.com as part of the promotion for his movie, Battleship – which opens in theaters in US and Canada on May 18th.

In this video, they show scenes of his previous roles from Zoolander, Generation Kill, True Blood and Melancholia. Alex also revealed he won’t be sharing his voice on Sponge Bob Square Pants any time soon.

Watch it below!

Battleship | Zoolander | Melancholia | Alexander Skarsgard | Hollywood Dailies | Movie Trailer | Review

Here’s one more screen cap for you to drool over! (Sorry, I couldn’t get rid of the writing at the top.) He has such a great smile…

It was great seeing them show him as Eric Northman, especially because he was choking Bill. Too bad, they switched the scene to the “who wore it better?” scene where Sookie dumps both of them.

I love all this attention Alex has been receiving lately. It’s very well-deserved. I can’t wait to see Battleship either!

Quopic of the Day – is BACK!

Today’s (Day 6) fangalicious Fang-A-Thon 2012 post, has been brought to you by the Word of the Day – which will be featured as a Quopic of the Day! Long time visitors of ours might remember them, but we’ve kind of slacked off when it comes to posting them lately. I think it’s the perfect time to bring them back again!

For those who don’t know what a Quopic is…it basically is a combination of two words: quotes and pictures. We use these to remind ourselves why we love Eric and Sookie!

As I mentioned in the Fang-A-Thon post yesterday, this will be based off the books. So, basically this Fang-A-Thon post is inspired by the Word of the Day, featured as a Quopic of the Day, and based off the SVM. Are you confused yet? Don’t worry…you’ll see what I mean very soon!

Today’s  Word of the Day has been brought to you all the way from France!

Word of the Day: coffre

Definition: trunk

Example: Cette voiture a vraiment un grand coffre.  Translation: This car has a really big trunk.

There’s only one trunk scene I remember in the books. This is to remind us why Sookie will never end up with Bill at the end of the book series. Unfortunately, they didn’t portray this scene exactly the same way on the show, but hopefully the picture I chose will send the same kind of message as the quote I’ve used.

Of course, the famous trunk scene happened in book 3, “Club Dead”.  Here is a quote from the famous scene below;

“Now another need was on him, one closely related to feeding. His hands pulled down my sweatpants, and after a lot of fumbling and rearranging and contorting, he entered me with no preparation at all. I screamed, and he clamped a hand over my mouth. I was crying, sobbing and my nose was all stopped up, and I needed to breathe through my mouth. All restraint left me and I began fighting like a wildcat. I bit and scratched and kicked, not caring about the air supply, not caring that I would enrage him. I just had to have air.”

Wow…powerful stuff. You can really feel the pain and horror and eventually acceptance that Sookie felt. She is a very strong woman, who has learned to forgive – but will never forget. This was a turning point in her life in the book series. I think this moment made her step back and look at her relationship with Bill from another perspective.

This is why I really don’t understand people who still love Bill? How can you, after knowing from Sookie’s point of view, what he did to her in the trunk of the car? Thank God, Eric would never force himself on Sookie, no matter how full of bloodlust he might be. He’s old enough to have some measure of restraint and self-control. Besides, I doubt he would need to force any woman on him. Even Sookie is smart enough to realize that all Eric has to do, is just snap his fingers and women would flock towards him.

What are your thoughts? Please feel free to share them below!

Alexander Skarsgård Makes TV’s Top 10 Hottest Men of 2012 List

This year isn’t even halfway over yet – and Yahoo.com has complied a list (after lots of research and personal opinion) on who are Television’s Top 10 Hottest Men (so far) of 2012!

This shouldn’t come as a shock to you…Alexander Skarsgård and Joe Manganiello from True Blood both made this list! Check out where they ranked, and what they said about these hot actors below!

#6-Joe Manganiello (Alcide Herveaux, “True Blood”)

Claim to Fame
Manganiello had several recurring roles on popular television series before he landed his breakthrough role as werewolf, Alcide Herveaux on HBO’s hit series, True Blood. Now, at thirty-five, his career seems to have taken off.

Why He Makes the Cut
His eight-pack abs, rugged good looks, and deep voice can send a woman or man into a coma

Yes, Joe does have a nice body…too bad I find his character so boring that his attractiveness seems to dim in light of this fact. Besides, have you ever heard the song, “I’m Sexy And I Know It”? Joe knows it, and it kind of takes away from his sex appeal.

#4-Alexander Skarsgard (Eric Northman, “True Blood”)

Claim to Fame
Skarsgard had significant popularity in his homeland of Sweden. However, his portrayal of the sexy, manipulative vampire, Eric Northman on HBO’s hit series, True Blood garnered him worldwide success and made everyone fall in love with him.

Why He Makes the Cut

At thirty-five, Skarsgard is the epitome of perfection with his blonde hair, blue eyes, tall frame, and hot body.

I would add – Alex’s smile and personality do me in too! He doesn’t seem to realize how attractive he is and that makes him even more attractive.

The person who wrote this really did her research well!  Of course, the actor who came in at #1 isn’t a surprise…if you want to find out who else made this list, please click here! I’m assuming no animals were hurt during this “research” and many Skarsgasms were had. This list probably won’t change very much by the end of the year either, other than a few changes in ranking.

I have to say, Alex should’ve been #1, but that’s JMHO.

True Blood’s Favorite Lustful Moment

In tonight’s (Day 5) installment of my fangalicious Fang-A-Thon 2012 posts…I wanted to let those of you know (who don’t follow True Blood on Facebook), that True Blood is featuring polls to choose your favorite moments from past seasons!

The first poll they had was to choose your favorite True Blood Moment of Lust!

These were the choices;

When Sookie met Bill.

PUKE. I wouldn’t call this a moment of LUST, but whatever…

Sarah Newlin tempts Jason

This was somewhat tempting…in a creepy sort of way.

Sookie’s threesome dream

This dream was awesome when it was two, but as soon as the third person showed up…it went downhill fast. This was the most awkwardly uncomfortable threesome I’ve ever seen, not something I found lustful. Ever heard of three’s a crowd?

Eric seduces Talbot

Yes, this was kind of hot…in a male-on-male kind of way. (If that’s your kind of thing.) I really liked Talbot as a character, and seeing two hot naked men…YUM.

Jason fights his feelings for Jessica

Jason’s feelings for Jessica were brought on by Jessica’s blood when she saved him. There had been no inkling of feelings before this, so this was somewhat surprising. It was uncomfortable too, because I felt bad for Hoyt.

Last, but definitely not least…and not surprisingly to usEric and Sookie won with this lustful moment below!

Eric’s first Sookie fantasy

Yeah, they have the picture wrong. Instead of showing a picture of Eric’s first Sookie fantasy, they showed a pic from their first real kiss! But, whatever…I’m pleased to see the fans feel the same way as us!  I hope True Blood is paying attention to who all the fans are voting for and is wanting together as a couple! If not, they are really, really stupid.

As a reward, they shared this special edition sticker on GetGlue! When you watched True Blood and checked into the show, this is what you would receive on GetGlue!

GetGlue’s Thursday’s check-in sticker

If you’re interested in voting for True Blood’s Favorite Moment this week…they are featuring the most memorable death! The two we’re hoping will win are when “Talbot becomes a victim of Eric’s revenge” and “Godric’s death”. Cast your vote here! (Please note: you might have to be logged into Facebook to cast your vote.)

That’s it for this memorable Fang-A-Thon post! Check-in tomorrow – when I’ll be switching back to the books again!

Deadlocked enters the NY Times list at #1!

Hey Eric and Sookie Lovers!

It turns out we were not the only ones who got locked with Charlaine Harris’s Deadlocked, the 12th book of the Sookie Stackhouse series.

Read the presses! Because Deadlocked has entered the New York Times Best Sellers list for Hardcover Fiction at the Number 1 spot!

We here at Eric and Sookie Lovers are ecstatic at this news and couldn’t wait to share it with all of you!

Of course, it’s very fitting we learn of this accolade today… the same day they announced the release date of the final book of our journey with the Viking Vampire and Telepathic Barmaid.

Many congratulations to Charlaine!

New Promo Analysis

Ok I have to admit when I woke up this morning to the new True Blood Season 5 promo, my fan-girl heart almost exploded. How can there possibly be so much sh*t going on in such a short film? Can Eric get any hotter? Can Chris Meloni look like he is going to be any more awesome? (Can’t wait to see Roman and Russell face off) Can Bill’s hair get any worse? And Hoyt WTF? There is so much to chew on for rabid fans that it will keep them going for the rest of the week. We are going to concentrate on Sookie and Eric as usual, and there is a heck of a lot of both of them in there!

We begin with Sookie weeping over Tara in her kitchen, but we’ve all seen that before so let’s move on. Eric has the honor of the first voice over.

He’s back on his viking throne at Fangtasia, probably from his visit to confront Pam about Russell in episode 4. The voice over begins “The enemy comes soon, either Russell will have our heads or the authority will”.

The speech seems to be taking place on the dungeon steps at Fangtasia and it seems to be Pam he is addressing (later in the promo you see her wearing the pink top you can just spot the corner of), and if it’s an early scene he is perhaps persuading her to embrace being a maker as he won’t be around for much longer. There is also a brief clip of Pam and Eric in bed from her turning story (hopefully), and Pam seems very thoughtful indeed. Perhaps she is already contemplating an eternity together or maybe she is just getting over the fact that she has woken up in bed with the world’s hottest man.

Next up we have Eric and Bill trying to bargain with the Authority by offering to hunt down the rogue Russell. Is this a genuine appeal for partnership to save their own lives, or are they attempting to play both sides. (Eric is very good at game playing as Talbot would tell you if he wasn’t floating down the drain).

Seriously Bill’s hair? I’m starting think they are doing it on purpose.

And Bill doesn’t get any better either as he wants to involve Sookie in their cunning scheme. Eric is all mournful and dewy eyed, and says “I don’t think she wants anything to do with us again”.

He’s almost doing that look again, you know the one that almost killed us in the season 4 finale. Don’t go there Skarsgard, my shipper heart can’t take it.

Of course Bill doesn’t give a hoot about Sookie and doesn’t think they should give her the choice, and it looks like he gets his own way as we next see Sookie lurking round a dark corner with them.

My guess is this is a corridor in the creepy hospital they were seen filming at mid-season.

Alcide, who all of a sudden seems to think he is a world class authority on everything, declares to Sookie that she doesn’t have to be stupid.

Sookie is no doubt about to abandon her Merlotte’s apron (again) and rush off to help her 2 favorite vampires. The weary were does not approve of such an impulsive action. Good, he can stay out of it then. And anyway when has Sookie rushing off without pausing to think something through ever resulted in any kind of trouble? (don’t answer that one)

Which brings us nicely on to this.

Words actually failed me the first few (hundred) times I saw this. No prizes for guessing it’s from Pam’s turning story. Has the apparent Gentleman Eric just been up for a bit of heart ripping perhaps? Goodness me, I can’t wait to watch these flashbacks.

Enter Salome, who is beginning an interrogation with our viking vampire (and let’s face it who wouldn’t if they got the chance) by purring “It’s wonderful to be a vampire isn’t it?”

We were unsure to begin with how Salome was going to fit into all this, early theory was a Russell connection, but it looks now like she will definitely be some kind of big-wig with the Authority, and judging by the “moment” she is having with Mr Compton later in the promo, she’s also living up to her biblical reputation.

Next up Eric speaks again as he’s “come to finish what we started”. We know he means business because the fangs are out (and we just love it when that happens). Sookie is in the background too, so that is 2 scenes they have together (hurrah).

Back at Fangtasia Sookie looks to be using her fairy zapping powers on an unlucky Pam.

Revenge for Pam attempting to blow her up last season maybe? If it is indeed Pam, then there’s obviously no sign of sisterly bonding over their Northman love just yet.

And speaking of love – is that our Sookie getting it on with Alcide?

Is it just my wishful thinking or does she look like she is not quite sure about this? Having seen his sex scene with Debbie last year, all I can say is don’t do it girl, for the love of Godric, don’t do it!

As if getting up close and personal with Alcide isn’t enough to ruin a girl’s day, next up the ever tactful Lafayette accuses our hapless waitress of being “the angel of death”.

A tiny bit harsh maybe? Does he just blame Sookie for Tara’s possible human demise or have a truck load more characters met their grisly demise in her kitchen?

Another flashback as someone wants a stake in Eric. Possibly a different historical time as the outfit looks a little more modern? (Granted I’m no costume expert)

Add into the mix a couple of matching prison uniforms (We won’t even ask you who wears it best), and Eric getting a (presumably silver) netting, and it looks like there is going to be plenty of Mr Northman for our enjoyment this year.

Close to the end there’s a quick glimpse of this.

Will our Sookie be under attack again from some mysterious villian? Could it be the new breed of vampire? Or something to do with Russell and his thirst for revenge? Whatever it is, it looks like life is going to suck for Miss Stackhouse again, and not in a good way.

So what do you think? Any theories on where the show is heading in season 5? We’d love to know what you think.

TB Casting: How much is too much?

For my fangalicious Fang-A-Thon 2012 – Day 4 post, I figured I would take a deeper look inside the casting for True Blood. These are my thoughts on all of the casting calls we seem to get every year. Feel free to share your thoughts after you’ve finished reading!

As you know, here at Eric & Sookie Lovers – we keep you pretty much informed on the latest casting calls. Mostly, we do this to inform you on what’s going to happen, and to speculate – especially because (as you well know) True Blood keeps pretty tight-lipped on upcoming spoilers. Other than the promos they choose to share…we pretty much have nothing that tells us what’s going to happen during the season. Sure, they do share spoilers with Michael Ausiello from TVLine.com and Kristin Dos Santos from E! Online, naturally, but those are few and far between and on their time…not ours.  (At least during the off-season.) We love being spoiled as much as possible and as often as possible.

Sorry if this comes off sounding like a rant, because it’s really not. I’m just sharing my thoughts on it.

It seems like every year, we have an astronomical amount of casting calls released for each episode of True Blood. I think it’s roughly an average of four characters/episode, but don’t quote me on that, because I don’t really know. I’m just basing this off what I remember reading in each one. But it seems like True Blood is worse than other shows, when it comes to this. Maybe it’s the fact that I don’t follow other shows as closely, so I miss them…but it seems like every couple of weeks, there’s a new casting call out there.

My question is this…how much is too much (character-wise) on the show?

We seem to have many roles filled, for only a few minutes of screen-time and/or a brief glimpse of them on the show. It hardly seems worth it, when all is said and done. Sure, True Blood needs these roles to be able to tell a story effectively – but as you are aware…storytelling isn’t one of True Blood’s strengths. (Continuity errors is a big issue with them, but I’m not going to get into details about that in here.)

There is some good – which comes with posting casting calls like these each year.

  • It keeps actors employed in an unstable market and even worse economy. I can’t really fault them for this.
  • It keeps us informed as to what to expect (somewhat) in the season, example: spoilers.
  • Usually tells us who is directing and writing the episode, as well as the episode title.
  • We need a cast to be able to portray the stories throughout the season. Characters get killed off, and have to be replaced, and introduced.

But we also have a lot of bad too.

  • Too many smaller roles, which could almost be considered ‘glorified extras’.
  • Too many characters not based on the books, but then again…since this is basically Alan Ball’s fanfiction, it’s not really surprising to us.
  • Have you ever heard of the phrase, “less is more”? This definitely does NOT fall under that. If they have to show X amount of people, it doesn’t leave very much room for the true stars of the show. As you know, they are the ones we want to see the most. Why would we want to waste our time watching nobodies (no offense to them)? But I often hear complaints about “not enough Eric”, “too much ‘filler’”, blah, blah, blah. I’m not disagreeing with you, I agree 100% completely. The fans (us) want to see the characters WE care about. Not characters we have no invested interest in watching.
  • Have you ever had too much dumped on you, and it left you feel disorganized, lost and confused? Having too many characters leads to having to squeeze them all in – in a show with a huge cast already. Why do they have the ‘need’ to create other characters in a story, when they have enough characters as it is? If they can’t work it in – due to characters who have no relation to the story, then they MUST get rid of these “added burdens” by either killing them off or just drop them altogether.
  • This all leads to the viewers’ confusion and that eventually leads to their loss of interest.  This eventually leads to the decline in ratings, which leads to the show’s cancellation. If you can’t understand what’s going on, you’re not going to find enjoyment in it, are you?

I could probably go on and on about this…but I thought I’d put this out there for you to read and to (at least) think about it. But this does make me think of the famous advertising slogan…“billions and billions served” – but in this case, it’s more like what is shown in the image below. LOL

Sooooo…what do you think? How much is too much? Is there some kind of quota the show has to maintain? Is there a reason why True Blood seems to have more casting calls than other shows? Should there be some kind of limit as to how many characters the show should have?

Feel free to share your thoughts and voice your opinions below!

Poll: Which Eric pic do you like better?

For the 3rd day in my fangalicious Fang-A-Thon 2012 posts, (and after watching the new True Blood Season 5 2 minute teaser earlier) I definitely feel like my brain is scrambled like eggs in a frying pan, and I can’t possibly concentrate long enough on a post with any kind of insight or depth.

Charlaine Harris In SciFiNow Magazine

In my Day 2 of my fangalicious FangAThon posts, I figured I’d focus once more on the Southern Vampire Mysteries, but this could be based on True Blood as well! I guess you get a 2-4-1 deal this time ’round!

Charlaine Harris was featured in the latest issue of  the UK magazine, SciFi Now. In the interview, she revealed some very interesting things about the Sookie series and Alan Ball, which you might find extremely interesting after reading her answers!

Below, are only some highlights from the interview!

Is there a book in the series you’re most proud of?

I really enjoyed All Together Dead when the hotel collapses. That was a lot of fun to write because Sookie wasn’t in her comfort zone, and I enjoyed doing all the research for it. I had to talk to a lot of people about construction, elevator shafts, roof angles, the thickness of safety glass and so on, stuff that I never thought I’d need to know! Even though there were a few plot holes, it was still a good book to write, and I thought it achieved what I wanted it to.

How has Sookie developed throughout the series?

I think Sookie has matured a lot. She has had to do some terrible things, and that has changed her. She’s gotten somewhat harder, but she’s still determined to do the right thing if she can.

We hear you wrote a death scene for Bill during Dead And Gone (in the hospital during the Fae War) but abandoned it?

If Alan Ball had kept his mouth shut, no one would have ever known about it. I was talking to him about that one-on-one, and he just turned around and said it at a press conference. When I heard it I went “Oh no! Why did you do that?!” I’d only thought about doing it, and then I thought “No, that’s just not right. That really isn’t the arc that I had created for him.” So I took it and put in the right material. I didn’t know where the characters would be in the middle of the series, but I pretty much knew how they would end up.

Can you tell us how Bill died?

I don’t even want to get into it because every time I think about it, I get mad at Alan. We’ve had such a great relationship, and that’s the only time I’ve ever gotten peeved at him. I keep things under wraps now! No one knows how the books are going to end up except me and my assistant.

Do you read feedback from readers on the internet?

I try and stay away from it because even though I like to hear what readers think, it’s not going to change my decisions. I think the TV series has had an influence over how people want it to end, because some readers are really in love with the TV depiction, and that may not match the characters that I actually wrote.

Are they leaning more towards Bill or Eric at the moment?

Why limit it to just Bill and Eric? It could be neither, or it could be nobody!

Have you started the last book yet (due out 2013)?

I’m way into the last book; I’ve got to turn it in in July. It’s been fun so far because that’s my job; to have fun, and it’s interesting trying to pull together all the threads and make it better than the last book – that’s always my goal. Sometimes I make it, sometimes I don’t, but I always try.

If you would like to check out the full interview, please click on the scans below for larger view.

This interview is very interesting…isn’t it?  I guess the relationship between Charlaine and Alan Ball isn’t as happy as we once thought…? I really don’t blame her…most writers don’t want their “secrets” revealed to the general public until they choose to make them known.  The fact Alan Ball dropped one of her “bombshells”  without permission and forewarning – is proof that he really doesn’t understand the way things really are.

Here’s my thoughts on what she said about the questions I quoted above.

  1. I think All Together Dead was one of my favorite books in the series too. I loved the Rhodes explosion! It’s interesting to find out she did research on the technical aspects of the bombing.
  2. I definitely think the series is mostly about the character growth and maturity of Sookie Stackhouse.
  3. What I find interesting about her comments on the re-write of Bill’s death (other than her comments about Alan Ball) is the fact she mentions, “I didn’t know where the characters would be in the middle of the series, but I pretty much knew how they would end up.” This makes me think that Bill will for sure die at the end of the series, but because Dead And Gone was in the middle, she didn’t want the character to die in that particular book.
  4. I’m relieved she thinks reader reactions won’t make a difference to her writing decisions. That’s good news for us, right? Except when we tell her we want Eric and Sookie to end up together. I guess we can’t change what happens either way, but I’m still confident that we don’t have anything to worry about.
  5. Don’t be worried by the next answer to the question right below the one up above. She’s only playing ‘coy’. She has to keep everyone guessing.
  6. She’ll have Dead Ever After finished in July? This makes me really excited!

That’s it for another day and another post in the 2012 FangAThon! Expect one devoted to True Blood tomorrow! ;)

What are your thoughts? Please share them below!

Special thanks to LuvTheViking for the scans and the Sookieverseblog for the head’s up!

Meeting the Maker

When the Book Tour dates for Deadlocked were announced back in March, I started comparing which dates and locations would be the best for me to attend. I ended up deciding to go to the Charlotte and Winston- Salem events, this way I could make it a mini road trip. Quite a few folks asked me “Really? You are going to 2 events? Why?” My response was “Why not. I love Charlaine and you tend to learn different things from each Q&A session.”

Charlotte

I won’t bore you with the details on the drive up, but needless to say my day started very early on Sunday May 6th to make sure I arrived at the Arboretum Barnes and Noble in Charlotte to get my signing line ticket and ensure I get a good spot for the Q&A. I would say front row was a good spot :) . There were several of us “camped out” around 12:30 with the event starting around 3pm. It was a blast connecting with fellow fans and talking about the books, what we thought of Deadlocked, Eric, what might happen in Dead Ever After and Eric, True Blood and the Eric storyline, Alex and his projects, other books… did I mention we talked about Eric? :)

While we were talking and stalking our watches for 3 pm, the area filled up with other patrons and became standing room only. It was a glorious site… and sound as the cheers and clapping grew when Charlaine made her way to the front for the Q&A session. She was gracious and entertaining as she repeated our questions through her mic so those in the back could hear before answering it… if she could. There were some questions that were asked that might have been spoilery for Dead Ever After. My own question asking the name of Eric’s other child (confirmed to appear in DEA during a previous Q&A) got a I can’t answer now “but you know Eric.. he does like them blonde”. She also confirmed that there will be a new Sookie story in an anthology coming out in August that will have Hunter in it. Of course when it was repeated that Dead Ever After was the last book, we all made a sad sound until Charlaine playfully redirected us by mimicking us and saying “Yay, we are getting another book”.

Surprisingly, there were not a lot of Deadlocked questions but we covered a range of topics between her writing style, her other series, Harper Connelly being turned into a show on SyFy. She lit up like a Christmas tree when discussing her newest series “Midnight Pawn”, that there will be several characters from her other stories making appearances. You can tell she can’t wait to sink her teeth into it.

I loved it when she was describing her path to becoming a writer. Like when she was working for minimum wage (way back when), she thought of writing as her “secret identity”. It drew laughs from us. Charlaine mainly writes what entertains herself, and tries to write 7 pages a day. She has admitted to writing herself in a few corners a few times and was able to turn most of it around. She also apologized for killing Claudine, it was an accidental killing spree and she regrets the loss of Claudine. Her content editor is in charge on making sure there is character continuity through out her books. She hired her directly for the soul fact that she would be dedicated to her works and not need to split time with other authors.

You can totally tell that she loves all her characters and would love to write another Aurora book… if the right story came to her. Sookie’s evolution from Dead until Dark through Deadlocked and her inner strength is a source of pride. The Q&A took a turn for the serious when Charlaine continued that she would never write another Lilly Bard story, since she went to a dark place to write these stories and will not go back to that world.

“As a survivor of rape, I choose to live in the here and now and not dwell in the past” ~  Charlaine Harris (paraphrased)

Applause broke out in tribute to her strength.

We also had a serious moment when one audience members asked Charlaine if there was a review or critique that made an impression on her. She responded that “any writer” should not pay attention to the reviews left at Amazon as people can be pretty hateful when they can be anonymous.

There were several TB related questions that came up. The one asking who does she think will be playing Quinn on the show made me cringe since it was a book event. Charlaine took it in stride and said she wasn’t sure if he would even be on the show. Another question inquired how she felt about all the changes they have made from her story. In her fashion she jokingly replied that she cried… all the way to the bank. It was all said in good humor. We also got a few more stock answers when asked about True Blood and the actors and how she was not part of the show creative team and which actor best fit her vision of the character (Chris Bauer as Andy, though Joe M is trying his best by working out as often as he does).

The Q&A over all was very enjoyable and lots of good information shared and the excitement rose as we got ready for the signing line. The staff at the abortorium was very organized and after about a hundred some people… I met the Maker :) It was truly an honor to meet her and thanked her for the Sookie books for with out them I would not have met some of my closest friends through the internet book club and the fandom. She was delighted to hear about that. I also thanked her on behalf of the staff here at E&SL and she laughed and replied “No pressure there!”

After my turn at the signing table, I stayed in the store so I could go through the line a second time to get an extra book signed… and found out a few other fans who would be attending the Winston Salem event the next night as well. At my second trip to the desk I joked with Charlaine that I was a part of the see-you-tomorrow crowd. She joked back with that  I was a glutton for punishment :)

And with that, my time in Charlotte wound down as I jumped into my car and made my way 90 miles to Winston-Salem.

Winston-Salem:

My next night found my friend Kat and I at the Salem College for a “Conversation with Charlaine”, an event hosted by Bookmarks (click here for more details). This was a ticketed event, and we had bought the VIP package which included a “Wine and Hors D’oeurves” reception with Charlaine, a gift bag, and a copy of Deadlocked followed by the interview and Q&A. We made sure we arrived with plenty of time to spare so we could figure out the lay of the land. I admit I was extremely entertained when I realized the Salem Fine Arts Center was right beside a grave yard.

After a quick stop in the lobby where I continued my quest to upgrade my paper back copies of SSN into hardback, we made our way to the reception. Along the way, we saw Charlaine get an overview of that evenings stage set up. We waved in greeting and she returned with a quick smile. We continued on our way to the reception site and partook of the goodies there (the food and wine was very yummy) with the waiting crowd. When Charlaine was able to join us, part 1 of her signing session began. Normally during at a signing you stay on one side of the table while the author is on the other and you lean in for pictures. At this reception, we were allowed along side Charlaine while she was signing (and for a quick chat) and we could lean in for a picture with her. When it was my turn to approach the desk, I asked her if she  was feeling better (toward the end of the B&N event she was tired) she had a small laugh before turning to the woman holding my camera to tell her that i had been at the event in Charlotte the day before as well. I admit, I had a fangirl moment. I told her she was completely worth it and again thanked her for Sookie as they led me to friends like Kat. We took our pictures and we let Charlaine meet with the next fan in line.

After a bit, we made our way back to the auditorium to make sure we got good seats. First row again. There was time before the 7pm start and we met and took some pics with Stephanie of PaperDollsBlog and of the slide presentation showcasing testimonials about Charlaine’s work among other items .

Now, one would think sitting in the front row would give me great pictures, but with the ban or flashes and use of electrical devises and someone next to you stage whispering that we were told to turn electronics off. I didn’t want to chance being kicked out after my neighbor to the left, especially when i know I would be able to grab photo’s from someone who was able to take them.. ahem :)

Charlaine and the moderator (Dale Pollock) were introduced and took their seats to a warm welcome of applause and the moderator got down to business. Fans had the opportunity to submit questions online before the event, and it is with these questions the moderator started the interview. Of course most of these questions were about True Blood and Charlaine shared that she had been approached by a few others besides Alan Ball, but that Alan’s proposal was the most intriguing creatively not to mention financially. She knew early on that there would be divergence from her single POV story to adapt to a multi POV for TV. She also reiterated that the books and show need to be taken as different entities, especially since the story is so different from her stories. Through out the discussion Game of Thrones came up and how George RR Martin has some creative input into the show and how he had a different agreement with the producers and HBO. Charlaine shared that she watches True Blood (gets the pre-screener copies) and enjoys it because of all the differences its a whole new world for her too. The moderator, referencing that the show is different, jokes that she should be considered the number 1 fan. When asked if the show has influenced her vision of the book series, Charlaine had a cute answer that her story is how she planned it and there was no intentional inspiration. With a dash of humor, Charlaine mentions that she speaks with humor 80% of the time because there has been times when she was quoted online and people run with it as gospel when she was speaking with humor. Like what she “said” about not being invited to Anna and Stephen’s wedding and only sending a toaster. The conversation was tied back to the books with a lot of the similar questions and answers I had heard yesterday concerning Claudine, a new short story with Hunter. And the cry from the audience that we only have 1 more book, to which Charlaine again lead us with the “Yay, I am getting another book.” She does know how to turn our frown upside down :)

One of my favorite questions submitted was wondering where all of the Southern Sayings that Sookie quotes (remembers) her Gran came from, Charlaine revealed that these saying were gems from her MOTHER and grandmother. That these sayings gave her female characters a sense of strength and familiarity. Charlaine then quoted her mother as saying “Men are ok, but a woman will always get the job done.” I couldn’t help but smile. And while most of her characters are not inspired by anyone in particular, some characters you can’t help but be inspired by someone or a historical figure. Like Eric, Charlaine had researched a certain Viking name Vladimir who had strong qualities, a nice build, and “someone who could swing a sword.”

It was a definite joy to see her light up again while they discussed her new 3 book series Midnight Pawn. After an audience question if Quinn would be in Dead Ever After, Charlaine shares that he would not be in DEA but look for him to appear in Midnight Pawn.

There were a few other questions surrounding the Harper Connelly series becoming a show on SiFi, the graphic novel and her work schedule before questions were opened up to the audience. Sadly, I wasn’t selected to ask another question. Though the last question asked and its response has struck a chord with me… and could possibly be spoilerish.

The question was “With Eric leaving, will Pam go with him?” Charlaine response was “It’s a bit presumptuous that he is leaving.” “Pam will be happy.” And with that the Q&A concluded and my brain when to speculation island!

In Conclusion:

I loved every minute of this trip. There were so many items we can use to speculate what might happen in Dead Ever After that we should make it through the next 360 some days till we have it in our hands. For Charlaine is correct.. this is not a sad moment… we should celebrate because we are “Yay, we are getting another book!”

Here are some pictures from each event.

Season 5 Promo & Casting News

HBO will be airing a new Season 5 promo tomorrow night. just before Game of Thrones, and according to True-blood.net it will feature new episode footage and will be an extended look at the season ahead. Of course as soon as it becomes available on-line, we’ll post it for you so you can share your initial thoughts on it’s contents right here.

And now for a little bit more episode 11 casting news. It contains slight spoilers – so if you don’t want to know – don’t cross the line!

[GONDRY] Mid 30s, slimy and conniving, with slicked back hair, Gondry is a Vampire Security Guard. He has a sort of amused contempt for his assignment. Guest star.

[BERTRAND] A swarthy Frenchman, authoritative, confident, he is the Minister of the European Vampire League. Guest star.

[MURPHY ROLLINS] Mid 50s, a werewolf, strong, a man who speaks his mind, he brings a warning about a new breed of vampires to Alcide and Jackson. Guest star.

[TEEN-GIRL VAMPIRE] This teenage girl vampire with a ravenous, feral, just plain evil look about her. Co-star.

[ANGRY FAERIE] This angry faerie gets into an argument with the Belligerent Faerie and the Pissed Off Faerie in a faerie free-for-all. Co-star.

[AUTHORTY GUARD #1, #2] These rough Authority Guards at the prison help keep order. Co-star.

[BIKER VAMP] This newly formed vampire with a feral, ravaneous, evil look is traveling around with the Teen-Girl Vamp and the Businessman Vamp. No lines, 2 scenes. (40)

[BUSINESSMAN VAMP] This businessman vamp with a ravenous, feral, just plain evil look. Co-star.

[FAERIE BOY, FAERIE GIRL] This Faerie boy and girl get all amorous and excited as they pull Jason into their Faerie Club. Co-star.

Whilst here at E&SL we are not as interested in the new castings as we are are in two of the existing (blonde) characters, there are a couple of general snippets of interest in there. There is a European Vampire League and another mention of a “new breed of vampires”. Jason looks like he is going to be featuring in the fae story-line, perhaps taking some of that particular story arc away from Sookie as she is too busy with vamps and weres?

Who Becomes Dead Ever After?

In my first post in the 2012 Fang-A-Thon, I thought what would make a better post to start this off with than a post about what I wish for in Dead Ever After?  It goes without saying, I want Eric and Sookie to end up together in the end…but what about those who I want to see dead?

You know someone is going to die in the last and final book…but who, how, and why are the most important questions.

These are my picks and the reasons why they should die or the reasons why I want them to die. I’ve also kindly included how I want them to die. (As you can imagine…this post has been very therapeutic for me. LOL)

In no particular order…

1. Freyda – Queen of Oklahoma

It goes without saying…this bitch needs to die! We only met her once and I already want her dead. Somehow I think Sookie feels the same way about her too. The nerve of this Queen – trying to steal Sookie’s man! Who does she think she is? I don’t care why she wants Eric. He belongs to Sookie and nobody else!  I don’t care about the marriage arrangement Appius made. He’s now dead, so what does he have to gain from all of this? All I see…is some woman coming after Eric because she’s too weak to stand up for herself. Eric likes stronger women like Sookie. I see Sookie feeling the same way as me. Never mind the fact, she showed up on Sookie’s doorstep, uninvited and under ulterior motives. Sookie must really scare her, if she wants to know everything about who Eric loves. I smell victory from here!

How she will die: In a move to fight for Eric, after a lot of angst and heartbreak, Sookie will drive a wooden stake right through her greedy, man-stealing heart! Freyda will finally realize that all she’s heard about Sookie is true. Unfortunately for Freyda (but not for us), it will be a little bit too late.

2. Felipe De Castro – King of Nevada

Freyda can’t be blamed for everything…oh no. Thanks to Felipe’s own greed, he wants the kingdom of Oklahoma. Who cares if he owes Sookie a favor? He still hasn’t paid her back, has he? My hate for him also started when Eric tried to reach out to him, to inform him about what Victor was up to in the state of Louisiana…but did he care? No, he ignored Eric. No wonder Eric and Sookie had to take matters into their own hands. In DL, Eric had to ‘place nice’ and act the perfect host for Felipe and the people he brought along with him. These same people had no respect for Eric’s belongings and ended up trashing the house. Sure, sure…Felipe got his hands dirty when they tried to repair the house, and that’s impressive for someone with his status, but the damage was done. Eric’s table is still ruined.  How much wealth does he really need? Doesn’t he own Vegas? I’m sure he makes a killing off all the gamblers who lose all of their money on his gaming tables.  Felipe deserves a long and painful death, for taking over Louisiana and the rest of the country, and allowing his greedy nature to overrule honor.

How Felipe will kick the bucket: I’m hoping somehow Eric is strong enough to kill Felipe himself. I hope Eric ties him up with silver chains and leaves him out in the sun to burn.

3. Bill Compton

I’m sure many of you will agree with me…it’s time for Bill to go. Charlaine wanted to kill him off in book 9, but changed her mind. Since then, he’s been trying to redeem himself in Sookie’s eyes, but it’s too late for them. She’s already moved on. His stalkerish tendencies give many of us the creeps. I don’t really need to get into details about why he needs to die. I’m sure all of you will agree with me. If he really does die in the book, it will probably be heroically (PUKE. GAG.), because you know his ten fans will protest otherwise. (rollseyes) Needless to say, if I had a neighbor like Bill, who creeped by my house late at night spying on me, etc…I would call the police. But since he’s a vampire and the police are no match for him, I’ll take his absence any way I can get it. Besides, how many times does Sookie have to tell him ‘no’? GIVE IT UP ALREADY AND GTFO.

How I hope Bill will meet his maker (in hell): Please God, is it too much to ask for him to die because it’s apparent that he’s even worse than we already know in the books? How about something as sinister as on the show?  I don’t really care who, how, or why Bill dies…just as long as he’s gone, gone, gone. Amen.

4. Alcide Herveaux

Yes, even Alcide made my list. I’m sick and tired of him using Sookie and dragging her into wolfpack business. It proves how much of a leader he is. His pack would be better off without him. In a way, he’s been the one who has created most of Sookie’s problems. I’m sick of him. I’m sick of how he keeps thinking he has a connection with Sookie, even though he really doesn’t. He listens to really stupid advice and thinks Sookie will drop everything when he howls. GIVE IT UP ALREADY. She’s just not into you, Alcide!

How this wolf won’t find himself howling at the moon anymore: I hope someone – anyone challenges him for pack leader and he loses. Even better if it’s a woman…since he’s so great at choosing them. (rollseyes) But, knowing Alcide – he’ll find himself another ‘Debbie’ – who won’t put up with his shit. This time, he won’t be so lucky. Instead of the woman going after Sookie (like so many have done in the past)…she’ll head right for his balls and will neuter him, once and for all in front of his pack to boot!

I guess I could only come up with four characters…which is somewhat amazing! LOL But these are my picks…feel free to agree, disagree or come up with some more to be added to this list!

In case anyone thinks I’m really serious about this…I’ve written this post very tongue-in-cheek and this was for amusement and speculation purposes only.

…and get a life, if you’re somehow offended by it.

Hope you found this post enjoyable. Did it raise your speculations?  Don’t be afraid to sound off below!

Charlaine Harris talks Sookie & True Blood

Sookie and Eric’s maker  Charlaine Harris is of course busy promoting their latest adventure “Deadlocked” across the US right now, and today KUT News have released a little interview with the author. Charlaine tells us why she thinks Sookie Stackhouse is such a popular heroine:

I can only guess, really. Who knows why lightning strikes? But I think, and I hope, it’s partly because the books are well written –  I like to tell myself that. But also I think it’s because Sookie has real-life problems. She’s got the problems that all my readers have. She’s got to pay her bills, she needs new curtains in her living room, she has to pay her insurance, you know – all those things that we all have to do, yet she has this other life, that is so much more colorful than the lives most of us lead.

And also answers (another) question about True Blood and how it has become a seperate experience and we should not think of it as being like the books any longer:

It’s an interesting experience – I can certainly tell you that –  and one I never expected to have. It’s added a whole new dimension to my life and the things I know about now. I can say I’ve had a lot of experiences I sure would never have had otherwise. It’s exciting watching what is, kind of, related to my work on screen. But of course, the show and the books are kind of separating in a widening distance, so I really am almost viewing the show now as a completely separate experience from the books. I knew it would happen; [“True Blood” series producer Alan Ball]’s got his own talented writers, and they are doing what they see as exciting and photogenic, which is not a concern I had, and going their own way with the characters that I created. And you have to really think of it really as a completely separate experience, and not expect it to be like the books any longer.

You can read the rest of the interview here

Here at Eric & Sookie Lovers, although we can see that the journey is now very different for our favorite couple in the TV show, we hope and believe that the destination will still be the same!

Any thoughts on Charlaine’s latest words of wisdom?
